After an excellent second season in the Premier League, with a major trophy to boot, I was looking forward to a stress free Summer (as I imagine was our illustrious leader Huw - how he would love a Summer off!). But us Jacks donât do things the easy way do we? The Evening Post decide that no news is bad news and launch a campaign during âdown timeâ with the intention of causing unrest where there was none. I know that they want to sell their rag but have been appalled at their crass and provocative behaviour at a time when we should have been celebrating our achievements and looking forward to strengthening our squad in the transfer window (which still hasnât officially started yet!!!!). Cue much procrastination from all parties involved, and events leading to a parting of the ways between the board (not just Huw) and King Lauds agent (Tumumumulululalalalala or whatever!). Lauds felt the need to publicly state that he was sick to death of repeating his intention of sticking with the Swans, but some still felt the need to say that he was on his way out. We looked to be suffering in the transfer market, with Huw being blamed for f**king up our transfer targets â but letâs get some perspective here; Iago Aspas â Liverpool came in for him â much as we would love to, we donât have the pulling power they do. Aubameyang â he said he wanted Champions League football after meeting with Laudrup; we canât offer him that â yet! Kone? Again after bigger things â are we really going to be able to compete with Everton, Liverpool etc? I must admit that I was as worried as the rest after reading some of the negatives on here and in the media; I am just as susceptible to the crap that the media seem to thrive on! But it appears that we are now jumping into the transfer market with both feet!!! Canas, Amat, Pozuelo and possibly Redmond, Zabret and Bony â maybe even Gomis! How quickly things change! Substantial transfer funds available according to Huw (who I have absolutely no problem in trusting to lead us as impeccably in the next ten years as he has in the last!). £10.2 million offered for Bony â if thatâs not a statement of our ambition then I donât know what is! There has been a lot of negativity on this board of late â and I can totally understand it! We all want what is best for our beloved Swans; but I believe that Huw and the board are on the same page as the rest of us â they aint done us wrong thus far, and I believe we should trust them to continue their good work when the transfer window officially opens next week! Am actually feeling more confident and, dare I say it, excited! We have started to strengthen the squad, and there may be some very exciting signings ahead! We have also landed a very good kit sponsorship deal and I must admit that many of my fears have started to fade; feeling a little foolish in doubting our illustrious leaders â things seem to be moving in the right direction! I may be wrong, but I donât think so - I believe Huw and co have steadied the good ship Swansea and are well on the way to building on our excellent first two seasons in the Prem! Feeling pretty positive again â Hallelujah!!!!
Cheers guys - and thanks Blue - always nice to get views from the dark side - good luck to your guys!
