Just announced .... http://www.swanseacity.net/news/article/kit-statement-886196.aspx. Great news. This means during the close season we have kept our squad intact and added new key players. A big difference over last season's scramble and it means that we will start the season in a much stronger squad, better prepared as a unit and ready to go. With new additions still to arrive .... presuming we land a new striker .... things are shaping up nicely.
Good news, keep him on loan for a few more years then a free transfer is on the books, at the very least the player should have more say once his contract gets nearer to the end. I like the little additions we have made so far without losing anyone major from our last season, Now bring on some strikers.
. Dutch midfielder agrees new Swans loan deal Swansea City received a major boost today with the news that midfielder Jonathan de Guzman will be back at the Liberty Stadium next season. Swans chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed that a new one-year loan deal has been agreed with the Dutch international and his parent club Villarreal. “Everyone is happy the loan is continuing,’’ explained the Swans chairman. “Then Jonathan will review his long-term future next summer.’’ De Guzman scored eight goals last season as the Swans finished ninth in the Barclays Premier League while they also lifted the Capital One Cup after beating Bradford City 5-0 in the final, with de Guzman scoring twice. His performances during his loan spell at the Swans also earned him international recognition as he won his first caps for Holland. The 25-year-old hinted last week that he would not rule out a potential return to the Swans. “I had a great year at Swansea,’’ he said. “The people around the club and the fans treated me well. “It was not just the results we had; it was more about showing we can also compete with the big teams. We played better against the bigger teams. “We played well in a lot of games. We played good football and it’s refreshing playing in a team that has a good football mind. “I’m very satisfied with what happened. We did very well – we were very creative. “We really put Swansea on the map.” De Guzman joins new signings Jordi Amat (Espanyol) and Jose Canas (Real Betis). Very good news. Also, just saw a stat I've never seen before on reddit: "A random fact from whoscored: Jonathan De Guzmán: The Swansea City midfielder made the most accurate crosses from corners (49) in the Premier League last season."
There is a reason that he made the Dutch squad and stuck as opposed to popping in an out for a game to cover injury. The Dutch very seldom get it wrong and for a small country they rank very high. He frustrates some sometimes, but he is a capable player and we would have lost 8 goals from the goals for budget for this coming season if he had left. Past performance is no guarantee of future results, but he is capable of putting the ball in the net.
Agree Yankee, but most "experts" on here thought he was **** and not worth even a £5m price tag !! you don't play for Holland if your a total mug
Yea, I think this is good. He can only get better. Had a decent season last year, some times poor. Lets hope he builds on it. first team for next season Vorm Rangel, Chico, Williams, Davies Britton, Canas Hernandez,Michu, Routledge Bony? Bench: Tremmel,Dyer,Ki,Amat,Taylor,(new winger),(new striker) That's pretty decent. Our bench last year looked pretty poor at times, so lets hope we can get a good winger and stirker in. Don't think Moore, Lamah, or Augustien will be around. Monk to be good bench cover. And Tate's role... Assistant Ambassador Caretaker?
I think now it depends who we are playing, if we play a big team then I would have a defensive set up: Vorm Rangel, Chico, Ash, Davies Britton, Canas Hernandez, Michu, Routlage New striker Bony hopefully A small club like Cardiff attacking setup Vorm Rangel, Chico, Ash, Davies Canas Hernandez, De Guzman, Routlage Michu, New striker Bony hopefully The new bench will give us deeper tactical options than ever before, starting to get real excited now
I would play Ki before JDG. Hopefully he will have a chance to play further forward up the pitch this season. But either way we look at it, we are beginning to have some very serious strength in depth on the bench. Could pick 3-4 different MF set ups and they all look strong. Will be a very good headache for ML when he's picking his strongest team.
