Sorry but I feel the need to add a sense of perspective.

First things first, I am a lawyer (partner in a top 200 firm but do employment work not PI claims)

My firm does PI claims but generally for hose with BTE (before the event) insurance (so we do t chase ambulances too hard). I was once knocked over by a car while walking with my mum and never made a claim( why - because I wasn't hurt more than when I got tackled playing rugby)

We all know false claims push up insurance, running false claims sees lawyers struck off( total waste of 6 years training for a few quid)

If PDC's wife is hurt she should make a claim, if not then don't. If she feels ok today but not tomorrow - the best thing to do is to go to the GP, if she is sore, get the fact recorded and then review once she knows how serious (or not) her injury is.

There have recently been a series of changes in the system which mean that ambulance chasing ought to reduce but - those changes were driven through by the insurers and are all in their interests, people who are genuinely hurt deserve proper advice and a proper settlement.

I am totally disillusioned by those who moan about made up claims, they'd never see insurers making cheap offers which hurt families in the long run or make cheap offers to pay for Christmas in a house with no income for 6 months. We all pay for insurance but they are really sophisticated companies who look to maximise shareholder returns. Without advice you pay yourself open to **** settlements for injuries - the choice is yours (or hers) I have pm'd PDC and he knows I can put him in touch with someone who can help - that's his choice - let him make it. The insurers can look after themselves!

    Good point.

I'm not slagging off others who disagree, but in my experience every time I've made a completely honest insurance claim for losses really suffered, the bastard coimpanies have found ways of not paying part of what I was due. A solicitor once told me "that's their job".

So I'm afraid such experiences have made me very cynical. Given when you make an honest claim the insurance companies will find a way to not pay part of it, well the logical thing to do is to inflate the claim. Sorry, but to me if you're honest you'll get ****ed, 'cos insurers are certainly not honest.

Was it a 7 seat 4x4 it must of been for 6 adults and for motor insurance claim value isn't taken into consideration it's the amount of claims so if insurers have knocked you back after 1 claim I am struggling to believe it.

Your obviously a racist. Why feel the need to state there ethnicity. How dare you threaten to torch another persons house. Maybe if your daughter drove more carefully they wouldn't have been able to claim at all.

Because he's a really thick wum. He could have looked deep into google images and picked one from there as he's not worth the investigation work. But no, he steals the image from an ethnic user on this forum. <doh> What stupid idiot.

    This.
The compo culture is costing honest folk a fortune.
It's just plain wrong and a disease we have got from our American cousins.

Did you know that of the 10,000,000 complaints made to banks over ppi, 70% of them are from non customers

    Absolutely no way Reg.

I would never take anybodys personal belongings, that is the lowest of the low.

Taking from a multi millionaire company though, well thats a completley different scenario.

How is it different? It's still a criminal offence, you're still stealing from someone.

It is the claim society that we now live in that is taking away our personal freedoms...We have a fantastic swimming pool next to the SoL, but the diving boards are nearly always closed because of fear of claims if someone gets hurt using them..Something has got to be done about this, and clamping down on false claimers is one of them.
PS..Going back to the OP, if it was me, I would certainly have given her the opportunity to pay for the damage without going through the insurance company..It would have saved a lot of hassle and worked out far cheaper all round..
