Bentley would be a bizarre choice IMO. Long since past it.

 

A few seasons ago, a lot of people would have said the same about Etherington. I say give the boy a chance

 

Him and Pennant would be a good combo with Ethrington as a rotation. I think that wound be a good basis to start without spending big money. If we get Ollson he can double up As a winger as well as LB.

 

Don't think we'll get much out of Ethers unless we give him a good period to get fit.

 

I see Micah Richards is up for grabs, probably well outside our pay structure but would suit our style.

 

I agree, we can do better than bentley, he is past it in my opinion and injury prone

Dutch newspapers De Telegraaf and AD report that Erik Pieters is on his way to Stoke-On-Trent to start negotiations with the club. PSV Eindhoven has given him the all clear to look for a new club as his contract runs out next year. Dutch experts say this transfer is almost a certainty now.

3.5 million euro's, PSV really wanted to get rid of him...

Here is a heads up on him guys: very injury prone, bad temper and defensively quite weak. He has the pace of a winger, technique off the Dutch and is good offensively with a good cross. He is consistent and has great stamina and strenght, his tactical and vision are poor though. I've seen him get caught out on the counter attack a many times in the Eredivisie. But as of now, he is the best LB we Dutch have at the moment(Daley Blind is a close second), which is really shocking. He will have to adapt to EPL style defending quickly else he will have a difficult season.

Any LB is a positive step forward for me and he has age on his side to improve although I am slightly concerned at his alleged defensive frailties. This may give Wilson th chance to get. Run in midfield and we might well see Palcious and Wilson as the defensive midfield in a mor attacking formation.
