Can't imagine they wouldn't pay him for training. He'd most likely get a salary but money will dramatically increase with first team action.

Wasn't he on something like a £50k a week salary but with performance related pay it could get up to £120k?

WHAT??? £120k??? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING???

I don't care if he has a new contract, he'll always be useless.

I heard somewhere that it was actually a basic 15k or so weekly salary with performance related pay raising to 50k? I don't think Man United would have signed him for that much! <ok>

Edit: Gonna go search for it! (the article).

He's there for the glory not the football!!!!!!

He's had his money from us to retire on, now he just sits on the bench plays his bit parts in the odd game and collects his medal at the end of the season. Just so he has something to show for his career which he spent most of it injured.

I will have a look for the article but basically his bonuses on top bumped his salary right up.

Michael Owen is a spent force as a full-time player. Getting off the bench for cameos or playing at Walsall in the Carling Cup is all he is useful for now.
That said, he is still an excellent finisher and Hernandez can easily learn from him - his goal scoring record can not be argued with. His injury record is the only thing that stopped him being an England legend... oh and the fact he's as soulless as the devil when it comes to allegiance...<ok>

Couldn't believe it when I saw it. Mind you, Ferguson has lost Van Der Sar, Neville, Scholes and Hargreaves from the playing squad so may just want a few experienced faces floating around, and Michael Owen is a floater if ever I saw one....

That's why he's kept on to give Ferguson some tips!
