Would love to give this the ime it deserves but got a house full of kids so gonna be quick. Ko Phi Phi - at the top of the hill where you can see the 2 cresent shaped beaches meet in the middle of the island Ayres Rock. - was surprised at this but marvelled at thhe sheer size of it. Cathrine Gorge - NT. Canoed up this for a few hours. Queenstown, the view from the top of the cable car is amazing...Also Mt Cook. Mexico city town square is quite impressive. Val Desire, Tignes, kitsbhuel, Soll, Westendorf Circle (Austria) St Moritz, Breckenridge All amazing scenery and mountain life. Particularly like night skiing in the US All places I've been too and loved. !!
Mexico well the Yucatan I loved it apart from Cancun. It's very simple lads and this from Mrs DT who has covered this planet a few times ... get to Corsica as she reckons it runs NZ close in places
Corsica, Tikal, Machu Pichu, night skiing (with my knees and skill level, potentially hazardous)...all added to my list.
The thing with night skiing SB, is that you have to wait for the piste guides to re-open the mountain...usually around 8pm. So most mountains shut down around 4:30 ish, so you then go to the bar at the bottom of the mountain and consume far to many chocolate "la bumba's" or gluhwein etc. 4 hours drinking and it doesn't matter what your skill level is ( I used to teach in Andorra, Soldeu) Your co-ordination goes down in direct proportion to your bravery going up...Absolutely hilarious ! A definite must try for any skier !!
Agree on corsica...wife and i did our honeymoon there in ajaccio in early 80's.....went back a few times stayed in calvi which i actually preferred to ajaccio....Stopped in ajaccio on a cruise a 8 or 9 years ago, place had changed so much and not for the better. The central part of the island is simply stunning....also take the narrow gauge railway from calvi to ille rousse a lovely journey, but dose up on anti histamine before hand if you suffer from hay fever because the pollen from the maquis is deadly!!!

Anyone else done the Perhentian Islands? I went and never wanted to leave and on dreary wet Friday afternoons like today with a group meeting with Architects in Rotherham later I daydream back to simpler times and great food & beaches. If you ever get the chance - go there. Ahhh days of my misspent youth, where are you now?
Saont Cristobal was a great place Silvio, I lived there amonth or so early 70's. You could get sandals there that would run many thousands of miles, but amoebic dysentry that ran a few thousand more, and was the biggest cause of death among the Indian population at least. Hard to kill them off at that altitude! Did you go down the caves in the woods outside town? Was fantastic to come out of them, likle rebirth! The lady I found there was like rebirth too.
I was in Kao Phangan 3 weeks ago Staines. I didn't go to the full moon party. Just popped over for a day trip from Kao Samui. Do you know we have a Stonehenge type place over here in County Meath? It is called Newgrange. It is estimated to be 1,500 years older than Stonehenge. Machu Pichu is on my to do list too. My "must visit" recommendation is Iguazu Falls. Such a spectacular setting in the jungle on the border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. As you walk around the National Park, you can hear and see all sorts of wild animals in the jungle, Monkeys, Crocs, Birds etc.... The falls themselves make Niagara seem very insignificant. Wind down in the evening with a nice Argie steak and a bottle of Argie Merlot. Heaven.
