I thought Onuoha finished last season strongly playing at centre back. I'd like to see him continue there. Simpson will do nicely at right back. Looks like he's got a strong track record and arrives on a free transfer too. Good business.

I'm with you Beth. Doesn't look half bad for the league we're in does it.
Some dross to ship out, but I'm sure that will start to happen.

Agree , much better signing than Bridge. Lets hope he's not in London for the nightlife. Bit of a party boy?

Simpson - Onouha - Samba (if he stays!) - Traore

    Looks good to me.
Don't care if Bosingwa is the best full back to have ever played the game (he's not!!), I just want him gone!

I don't think we'll see Simpson strolling back if he loses the ball on the edge of the oppositions box mate. <ok>

Back up for Bosingwa might work, but Simpson looks like he's got more lard on him than Adel has right now, and will need to lose that together with the earing before he can even get up to the half way line, let alone back again. Back is the toughest of all positions when it comes to stamina.

I actually think this will be a good signing for us.

I do have a concern reading the comments from Harry above.. Is that how we are now recruiting our players, it seems very sunday league "a couple of lads down the pub reckon Danny can kick a ball"

In a day and age where teams compile massive dossiers on players entire lives to see if they are the right fit for the team, we go on the say of a couple of Harry's mates who he knew a few years ago.

Don't get me wrong, I think Danny will make our back line stronger, it just worries me for future signings...

You're right, Mark Hughes was extremely thorough and compiled wonderful dossiers on players when scouting them. That's the way forward, look at all our great players!! Compare them to the rubbish harry bought for Spurs! No wonder he only finished 4th twice in a row, with his amateur recruitment policies! We should all be afraid, very afraid........

Sooper in no way did I imply that Hughes was a good manager or his practices were right, the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal, Real, Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern use the same scouting techniques of compiling massive files on prospective signings.

I don't expect us to be at the same stage in the process as these teams but it obviously works as they are all consistently at the top of their respective leagues.

As we have seen with the likes of Bosingwa, you may have talent but if your attitude or work ethic is not there then whats the point.

We won the the Championship last time with a "team" not a group of talented individuals, if nothing else, the last two seasons have proved this...

You were questioning the way harry does his business, saying you have concerns and suggested that teams who are successful use the massive dossier method. I was merely pointing out that mark Hughes was very meticulous about finding out absolutely everything about a player, even down to what make of pants they wear(read it somewhere last season from one of his people). It got us to where we are now!

I agree with you Sooper, Hughes was very much out of his depth at a Premiership level, I think he'll get found out again this season... However with TF and the Board talking about the "project" etc it implies that we are moving in a more professional and businesslike manner. Then you hear Harry's quote and it comes across completely the opposite...

Harry may have finished 4th with Spurs twice, but then he was sacked, eventually came to us and got us relegated, I'm not saying it was all his fault as we were in a bad place when he took over but there was plenty of time left for such an experienced manager to install a team spirit and turn things round.

As with players, managers are only as good as their current form, it really doesn't matter how good they were two seasons ago.

You won't see Simpson make a composed pass all season as he isn't very good. Great to hear he is up for it ... No one else come in for him? wonder why? ... He looks and talk a good game, off the pitch is trouble.

He thinks he is better than he is so that's not bad and i am sure he will try but sorry lads Bosingwa is a decent footballer
