For me it has to be stripes... If not then definitely the sash. Last.years and this years are unbelievably poor.

I don't see why it has to be stripes. The entire 80s were without stripes and you won't hear many people complain about those years. If you want to go with tradition, then how about the most successful era of the clubs history? I'd go with the shirt we had from 1980-85.

I don't care nearly enough to get my titties in a twist about stripes, I only care about it looking decent. Much prefer the pinstripe kit to most normal striped ones. Pretty funny seeing grown men get angry over patterns on fabric though.

Doesn't mean I care about whether it's striped or not? Also, no, it's nearer 30, far less than some people.

Red and white stripes and black shorts - sorry to sound boring - but I miss the old kit and not hugely impressed with the red shorts - although the new kit has grown on me - I even bought some red oven gloves for my apartment (now that I am living in Dubai) that match our current shirt!! I might be converted yet...

I can't bring myself to care too much, all these Adidas offerings seem a bit plain though, my guess is the package they are offering clubs is miles ahead of what other manufacturers can do, not including the biggest clubs. Wiki suggests they have about half the Prem, Nike have got Man U/C, Arsenal and Everton, and Liverpool have got a big deal with some yanks.

I would rather see stripes or the sash personally, suppose it comes down to opinion. It's not the lack of stripes that i dont like about this new kit, its the fact that it's (imo) ****ing horrible.

Didn't mind the variations in the 80's but the '87-'89 shirt was dross. There was quite a clamour from fans after that shirt for the team to go back to stripes, which the club obliged. Wouldn't mind seeing us go back to the blue shorts/red+white stripes which we wore for fifty or so years.

I think that the club is taking a new direction in a new era for our club. While Nicola and co and in charge all we can do is sit back and take in what direction they see for us. Can't say ill complain about the shirt style if we break into the top 8 this season and to be honest I've quite liked the shirts so far under Cortese.

Actually Joe, the entire 80's did have stripes. They were either extremely fat stripes or sections, or extremely thin stripes. The kit You and I want is made of fat stripes or sections, but it still invokes the stripe mentality. That said, for the umpteenth time, I don't insist on stripes. I just don't want ugly. Surely that's an easy thing to accommodate..?

BTW, there aren't enough options in the poll.

I didn't experience that kit myself, but I've always thought it's absolutely horrible.

Interesting that nobody ever asks for blue shorts when they yearn for tradition.

Can we count last year's shirt as a return to stripes then?

You said it TSS and this latest effort is the 'Iain Dowie' of Saints kits, an absolute carbuncle in my opinion.

I liked last season's shirt as it was stylishly simple although there wasn't enough black in it for my liking and I would prefer black shorts and white socks.
