Sunderland AFC News And Banter Page: @SAFCsource Antonio D'Ottavio has resigned as head of scouting at Torino to join Valentino Angeloni's staff at Sunderland. http://bit.ly/1266xHO #SAFC http://www.toro.it/press/view/3984 TRANSLATED:- The House of Valentino - Another change in leadership at home grenade. Or rather, more than a change, it's another goodbye. Antonio D'Ottavio, head of observers del Toro, has resigned a few minutes ago his resignation Urbano Cairo: his contract was due to expire in September. What D'Ottavio and his collaborators (including the "historic" Horse) was a work at home rather appreciated grenade, two players who have come through the reports of the area, namely Dolly Menga and new signing for the midfield, Alexander Farnerud, starting a job abroad where the Taurus would like to give continuity. For D'Ottavio, an incoming transfer in the small Italian colony of Sunderland, where it will join the staff of another former Bull, Valentino Angeloni, looking for new talents for the team coached by Di Canio and directed by neo ds De Fanti . And the Taurus? The feeling is that for the past few months, with the market that has little "to discover" and very "to be treated", the place remains vacant, waiting to return to it at the end of August or early September, when urgerà schedule next season. For now, therefore, it remains so, without further jolts company, already quite frequent in recent weeks.
@SAFCsource Interesting that D'Ottavio is an expert on not only South American football but Argentinian football in particular.
According to reports in Turin, Torino's chief scout Antonio D'Ottavio has resigned from his position at the Serie A club to join Valentino Angeloni's new-look scouting team at Sunderland. Details are relatively sparse on D'Ottavio at this point, though he is considered a top authority on Argentinian football and South American football in general, which very neatly fits in with the club's desire to equip themselves to exploit the more obscure and cash-strapped corners of the footballing globe. Sunderland's scouting system is undergoing a radical overhaul this summer under the guidance of Angeloni and recently appointed Director of Football Roberto De Fanti. Bryan 'Pop' Robson, who left his position heading up The Black Cats' recruitment team towards the end of last season, has publicly cited a disagreement over the direction the club are taking with the process moving forward. Robson favoured the domestic market and believed top level clubs with the best academies have a responsibility to develop homegrown talent. Whilst that would be nice in an ideal world, the harsh realities of survival at the top render such ideas luxuries that can no longer be indulged. That has prompted a very clear change of policy, with the outdated system that relied mostly upon part-time scouts and a network of loose contacts making recommendations replaced by a number of dedicated full time talent-spotters. It appears that D'Ottavio is to join those ranks. Let's hope he has a gem or two up his sleeve.
I knew it! What the hell was Pop being paid for? Lost all respect for the man. As for this Torino fella? well it's all bloody mental. Monumental changes are happening at this club and it's gone completely under the radar of the mainstream media like sky and the bbc. If this comes together neatly and quickly like it did with Swansea a lot of teams could underestimate us next season and/or seasons beyond.
