I'm not sure how you feel about this but I don't feel at all comfortable about keeping Taylor at the club! A thug who has previous in this sort of behaviour and to think that he will now be playing for us next season. We all moan about Chopra (rightly so) about how he has dragged our name through the mud with all his off field antics! Personally I never want to see this Taylor thug play in a Town shirt ever again, and I don't care how good a footballer he is! He committed this assault soon after he joined us and I think that now he has pleaded guilty he should be sold on or sacked! Sorry boys but I am absolutely disgusted at this thug and he has no place at a great family club like Ipswich Town. http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/23101/suspended-sentence-for-taylor
Without knowing the full ins and outs of what went on......................i'll give him the benefit of the doubt and hopefully he will learn from any mistakes made and concentrate on football. That said i do believe he is over rated as a footballer....
And as a decent Human Being based on this behaviour! Lets not forget that he has been involved in this stuff before so how many chances does he need?
As i say i don't know exactly what went on so can't really make a judgement on it really...... .......although i do know a few blokes that seemed to be scrapping in Liberty's one week and the Hollywood's queue the next and according to them it was never their fault.............and being a little older now they are kind gentle men.... The Folly of Youth can Tarnish us all........
Weighty I will agree that everyone deserves a second chance but this guy has had 4 now! I have stayed quiet on this whole Paul Taylor issue up until now once the case was over. I just don't feel comfortable with having this fella playing for our football club and he should be moved on without delay.
Don't really know much about his prior convictions...............i'm sure Mick will keep an eye on him and make sure he has learnt from this and if he has not learnt i have no doubt that he will feel Mick boot on his way ooo t'door.
The fact is, he is still a member of the team so I guess all we can do is hope Mick will steer him straight and Taylor can put it all behind him.
So he got into a few scraps..big deal! If every footballer got the sack after being convicted then there would be a lot less footballers out there (stating the obvious). Apparantley in regards to the three other convictions, one was possesion of cocaine at 21, and the other two were getting into fights when 18 & 20 - hardly sackable material if true! I think what is a bigger disgrace, is how Marlon King is still being employed, especially after 14 seperate convictions!
So long as he's learnt his lesson I have no problem with him playing for us. Any repeat offences will see him banged up and taken off our hands anyway so it's over to you Paul.
It appears that some of you are happy to accept casual violence with just a shrug of the shoulders! Is it because he is an Ipswich footballer?
That's what it is in a nutshell JWM, and in addition we've not had the change to judge him properly as an ITFC player, if Chopra was scoring the goals he promises, we would all be far more lenient with his attitude. The courts have had their say, the club is disciplining him. Time to move on from it, let's not put a black cloud over our squad before the seasons even begun.
Talking of new lows I've just read on the EADT website that Joel Grant has chosen to sign for newly promoted Yeovil over us! I don't know if MM offered him terms in the first place but if this is true then it marks a new low in how far we have really sunk!
I was still getting in trouble at his age so it would be contradictory of me not to give him another chance. I matured and left the trouble behind me (moving to Amsterdam aged 25 helped a lot, taking me away from the people I used to hang with) and I hope he can do the same. He got very close to a prison sentence so I hope that is the wake up call he needs to put it all behind him. I don't condone it but I do feel people need a chance to change.
I guess Mick really wants him to be a part of the club, as we have said else where in Mick we trust, so lets trust him.
If the courts and the victim are happy for him to just pay a fine (probably only a weeks wage) and not do any time or community service then it can't have been that bad
Fully agree with JWM on this one! This is not his first offence so he clearly hasn't learnt. Would he still be in a job if he wasn't a footballer? If he was then I'm pretty sure HR would be looking for ways to get rid. Didn't he join ITFC after controversy at Peterborough? The fact of the matter is that as a player of itfc you are representing our club and town. If a group of itfc fans started a brawl after a game I sure we would all be saying how out of order they are. How is this different!! The sad thing is even if ITFC did the moral thing and got rid, I'm sure Taylor would quickly pick up a new club. One of the many problems Roth modern football.
I can't really pass judgement on the lad as in my younger days i used to be quite a big hitter in the bare Knuckle boxing circuit.... i'd turn up with my Orangatan Clyde give some local a wooping then collect my share of the prize money and be off..................................................................... ...................no hang on that was not me.....it was a film.. Philo Beddoe.
While I don't condone any type of violence, everyone who has had a night out has wanted to punch a bouncer at some point. Without wanting to sound like I'm grouping them together, my experience with them has generally been one where they refuse to interact with you and even try to intimidate people. Just this Monday, a friend of mine got punched in the stomach by one. He's been punished by the legal system, we can now move on and hope that he becomes a big part for us next year. I also feel that there's a strong chance that this wouldn't have got to court if it wasn't for the fact that he's a footballer, but I guess acting responsibly is part and parcel of having a job as good as Taylors!
I got into trouble multiple times during my younger years but if you met me now you would probably say I was a nice chap.
