That's why I suggested Cole, Odemwingie and Le Fondre. As clearly one striker won't be sufficient, we need two playing off each other.
Cole was on £28k a week at WH - he's not worth that sort of money. Getting a bit annoyed with this whole striker situation, if Burnley and Celtic want £5m each for Austin and Hooper why don't we just pay up or shut up!!
You wouldn't rather pay what they're worth then? If Birmingham wanted £5m for Davies, presumably you'd have just agreed to that as well? We're doing good business and we're doing it the right way, fortunately the club don't have to overspend just because a few fans are a little impatient.
Since he turned pro, Cole's stats in the league are: 01/02 - 3 appearances, 1 goal 02/03 - 20 appearances, 4 goals 03/04 - 21 appearances, 4 goals 04/05 - 27 appearances, 3 goals 05/06 - 9 appearances, 0 goals 06/07 - 17 appearances, 2 goals 07/08 - 31 appearances, 4 goals 08/09 - 27 appearances, 10 goals 09/10 - 30 appearances, 10 goals 10/11 - 35 appearances, 5 goals 11/12 - 43 appearances, 15 goals 12/13 - 27 appearances, 2 goals Other than in 3 seasons he has struggled to score 5 goals a season in the league. His goalscoring record is poor
A league goal every 4.8 games is poor, considering the majority of games have been in the top flight and he's a 'support' striker - I'd say it's decent. I think we'll be lucky to do better than Cole for a newly promoted club.
I'd have no problem with Cole coming in, but he doesn't score enough to keep us up and we'd still need someone like Hooper. And he won't come anyway.
