We had their eyes out for making them pay the best part of 20m for Hendo, now they've had ours out by getting Ming for 9m with another 1m in add on's.

Gutted he's gone but it would have softened the blow if we'd got a more realistic amount. He hasn't even peaked yet, and still has at least another 10 years of top flight football ahead of him!

10m for a keeper is hardly a bargain. Not sure why people seem so devastated that we only made 8m profit.

Maybe the age thing was a part of it mate although Reina still has a few years left in him. Still don't know why he went but, he did good luck to him time for us to find a new number 1 (hopefully Westwood will make it his).

Its a ****e deal for us in so many ways.

Sends out all the wrong signals as to our ambition and in accepting the first pitiful offer from the bin dippers it shows our rank amateurish transfer dealings. If it were Daniel Levy selling Mig I can tell you now he would have got at least £12m/£13m + add ons up to £15m/£16m or even more. Thats what hardened professional Chairmen/Chief Executives do. Not sell their best asset for this woefully short amount.

    Gutted on many fronts tonight.

I still think we should've got nearer 15m. We paid 9m for Gordon and Mings a lot better.
I rate him higher than De Gea aswell who cost 18m. He should've got Keeper of the year in the Prem and probably would have if he'd have played for one of the big 4!

Since when have we all became savers, who gives a **** about the money we should have kept him here until his contract ran down and maybe he would have signed a new one.

Can you blame him for leaving after last season, I just cant get my head around Liverpool though, he had Arsenal written all over him and would have went into first choice and played CL footy, god Wenger is so frustrating and I'm a Sunderland fan.

I'm a bit on the fence with this tbh... On the one hand we all know how good Migs is and he is easily worth more than £9m, especially considering his age... Then again, he only has 2 years left on his contract and was refusing to agree a new one so our hands were somewhat tied. Also, Levy undoubtedly would have gotten more, but you have to remember that Spurs are challenging for Champions League football year in year out and that makes their hand immeasurably stronger than ours in these sorts of dealings.

Having said that, I do think we should have held out a bit longer to see if any other big clubs came in for him. It might sound like a long shot but I reckon if we'd have refused to sell Migs to the bin dippers they'd have been stuck with Reina, which means Barca may have come knocking..? Probably not but now we'll never know.

Or Liverpool could have panicked at the thought of losing Reina to Barca and come in with a bigger offer.

Dirty knees we could have got £9m for him NEXT year when he had only 12 months on his contract, or kept him and lost him for nowt in 2 years (he only cost us £2m remember) or if our status had improved he may well have signed a contract next season?

If he had to be sold (cos he wanted to go) then why have we just given him away to the first suitor? We had another 3 months to wait it out and get the auction going? Why the hurry as we already have his replacement in Westwood.

This is like amateur night again at SAFC and we are just the softest of soft touches when it comes to signing or selling players. We give our best ones away and pay through the nose for other peoples ****e everytime. Barring Henderson and Bent, we get shafted by other clubs all too easily and this sale is boiling my piss tonight big time.

    Does it show? Lol

Also... Tevez is going at a similar price. Do we think Mig is more valuable than Tevez?

I'd like to hear from Ellis on this, selling low doesn't give faith really, does it?

He's gone....deal with it and move on. We have to look forward and not harp on about what could have, would have should have. £8m profit for a goal keeper is not that bad. Think back to the offers we were getting for Sorenson, and how much he went for, Phillips too for that matter. Its history now. Anyway been watching a bit of this Swedish keeper from Holland we have been linked with, not a bad player.

Fair one mate however Mig is not on 250k a week and Tevez is in his last year (I think).

It's mainly the Bosman factor - Liverpool do not need him right now and could have waited 12 months and maybe got him for half of what they paid or even less. They can move Reyna on now cheaply to Barca. On the face of it nobody loses in this deal.

For me our conduct in the transfer market in the Keane era was nothing short of farcical and we squandered money.

i'm against this post and for these reasons, firstly i'm slightly aggrieved that mig has gone but a 7 figure keeper right now i think he is not, in todays market for a keeper its decent, he was one of the stand out performers for us last season no doubt but ffs look at the back line? how consistent was it? a keepers job is to stop shots (some belters btw), we looked at the stats and he made more saves because he had to, his distribution is pony, we are all agreed and, one more clash to the face and his career is over.

I reckon its £12m by all accounts with add ons and a sell_on clause, decent bit of business as his face could potentially fall apart

Mig doesn't pull in the sponsorship or the crowds that Tevez does either mate.
