I'm glad we are not being bent over and raped by his agent. Shows that although we are willing to spend big money, we still have financial sense in the market and aren't going to just throw money around willy-nilly, much like QPR or Po**ey.

We definitely need a new solid rumour to help us get over this one, this deal sounds well and truly dead.

How do you know it's dead? Or is it your opinion?

To be honest the bloke and his agent sound like absolute tools, I'm personally fed up about reading about him. Really can't see why we would want a player like that playing for us anyways...

If we write off every player with an arsehole agent then we'd have nobody left. I don't know why you and several others seem to blame Wanyama personally when it's clearly all his agent's doing.

I think that is in reference to Celtic supposedly refusing a 10 million pound offer from Cardiff. They seem to be playing hardball with Wanyama just like Saints. And they can afford to, as their finances are fine, and even if they take a few million less for Wanyama next year it will still be a huge profit for them. They can probably win SPL with or without him.

That leaves Wanyama in the position of either sucking it up and playing for Celtic (and if he has a good season his value will increase or at least stay the same), or pouting about it which would decrease his value and thus his future wages and prospects for employment at a big club. Or else he takes what Saints are offering.

I think Wanyama's agent picked the wrong two teams to try and hold hostage. Not exactly endearing himself or his player to the fans of either club, nor to prospective suitors. He's got all his eggs in one basket now hoping Arsenal make a bid.

No, that's not what it was. I was told that Celtic had offered a financial contribution to cover a certain % of the demanded agent fee.

They would want to trouser that £12m, move on the player and maybe understandably, the agent too.

For the record, I still think there's another twist in this yet.

Best part of 800 posts now of speculation, conjecture and generally ill-informed guess work.

And still none of us have the slightest idea of the situation let alone whether he we will actually be any good or not.

No one can tell how he will be in the Prem, but he was class for Celtic and I'd like him at Saints.

And if you think 800 posts with no substance is bad, you should have seen the Gaston thread.

Sadly, Beefy's has made sure this has stayed mostly on topic so there are fewer unnecessarily vitriolic arguments about it.

I was on holiday in Portugal for the entire duration of the Gaston thread. I'm really disappointed I missed it, I've read about its legend since and to be honest the Victor thread experience is making me realise I really missed out.

Plus, I'm sure we can all agree that without Gaston the season would have pretty much been a write off.
