Very happy with him, Boyd and Figueroa so far. In for Austin and Hooper, not sure we'll get them but way better than previous years.
For his first 4 or 5 games for us, he was ****ing immense. If he can play to that level this season, he'll play a part.
The 4 or 5 games he was on loan, trying to win a permanent deal? Have to agree with Boris, can't see him cutting it in the Premiership at all. Probably loaned back to a Championship club come January.
Hooper's told Celtic he wants to leave this summer and they've dropped their valuation as a consequence, looks like we can get him for somewhere near £5m. Austin's more than capable of playing in the Premier League, though I'm not sure we'll actually spend nigh on £10m on just two players.
6 of 1 for me, Austins proved for a few years he is better than Championship level, and Hooper has done well in a worse league. Think they would have very similar goalscoring records in the prem.
Disagree with this to be honest. Austin's never played above Championship level so it's difficult to say that he is better than Championship level. Agree with what you say about Hooper though, Scottish Premier league is not a good barometer for proving that strikers are of any real quality, lest we forget Kris Boyd who was/is the all time top scorer up there. Came to play at Boro and Forest and looked amateurish. Jelavic has hardly set the world alight either and they raved about him up there.
Well there aren't; they've offered him to us as we're the only ones in the PL interested (hope that says more about Hooper than it does about our scouting network...). You can have Alex Bruce back on loan. The Ringo Starr of the group.
You're forgetting that Hooper looked completely at home in eleven Champions League games last season. It might be easy to look good against Ross County, but it's not so easy against, Spartak Moscow, Benfica, Barcelona or Juventus.
He didn't play Barcelona (defo not at the home game) and he was **** in the games against Juventus. To say he looked 'completely at home' in all of the games is wide of the mark but I take your point. Personally think they're the best two 'available' strikers to yourselves. Certainally makes you task slightly less daunting. Austin especially has impressed me whenever i've seen him against us.
I agree. They would be good for us and we can only attract a certain level of player. They would make the task less daunting but still, as for any club going up, a very daunting season ahead.
Just kick back and enjoy it. No-one's expecting anything of you. At least there's no chance you can go down to League One next season! Just as long as Bruce is sensible with his spending and doesn't bring in a lot of £5-6m players, you'll be fine!
