Luis Suarez seems intent on leaving Liverpool this summer. Views are divided on what impact his departure could have on Liverpool's fortunes next season. In my recent article I present a strong case for selling Luis Suarez - grateful for any views and comments from fans:

if we was to get a good fee for Luis and we spent the money wisely then i can see the argument for selling to be honest, as he is starting to be more hassle than he is worth. trouble is its too may ifs for my liking, i like the fact we have a world class player in the team as it helps raise our profile in a time of being ****e and will help attract other players here, and we have a good chance of top 4 with him in the team. i wont be sad to see him go, but i would rather he stayed.
Welcome to the forum, hopefully you'll contribute regularly. As for your points - 1. You can't say that "we should learn a lesson" from the Torres sale. That's not an incentive. That's a stipulation if he does leave. There is no guarantee that the money will be re-invested wisely. So to use it as a reason to sell him is simply illogical. 2. You also can't say that "we should sell Suarez because we trust Rodgers". There is no relation between the two. If they do sell him, we should trust Rodgers. We shouldn't sell him because we trust Rodgers. Again, illogical. 3. We can't sell an almost 30 goal striker because of one half season of relying on replacements. Sure they've made the right steps, but really, can you say that Sturridge, Borini, Aspas, Sterling, and Alberto will score as many as he will? It's too early to tell. It would be an unnecessary risk. If combined, these players score as many goals as the team has with Suarez in it, then we haven't improved - only matched our performance. If they don't - well then, we've regressed. 4. Suarez isn't the player we look to for chance creation anyway. Sure it's nice to have a striker be well-rounded but you may as well say that Reina should replace him because his reflexes are better. Coutinho and Suarez don't play the same role so Coutinho shouldn't be looked at as a replacement for Suarez, or for his role. These attributes will help us minimize the loss if Suarez leaves, but they're not a case to sell him. Finally, Rodgers isn't Arsene. Furthermore, both have signed flops before. Allen was bought as the Welsh Xavi but it's clear he isn't as useful as we thought he would be (not hating the lad, he could come useful). Rodgers has persisted in playing Downing despite his being useless on the right, so his judgement is far from perfect. Borini is only recently picking up form. Suarez should not be sold for 40m either, that's similar to what Rio Ferdinand went for. He's in the top 5 players in the world. With figures of 90m being thrown around for Gareth Bale, we can do a lot better than a measly 40m. If he's not worth that much to anyone else, he's worth that much to us.
Welcome to the forum mate In my opinion we shouldn't sell him if he is willing to stay for a little longer. It is very rare for a team finishing 7th in the league to possess a player is undoubtedly in the top 5 players in the world, and we shouldn't forget that. But what I will say is if we do sell him life will go on. Dalglish, Rush, Barnes, Torres have all left the club at some point and Liverpool carried on to see another day. I will wish him all the best as I don't feel he 'owes' us another season just because we stuck by him throughout all of his various misdemeanors. But if he is adamant about leaving then we must insist that the deal is done early in the window so that we aren't shafted on the cheap by Real with no time to find an adequate replacement.
