Remember Goodwillie? He was scoring goals galore in SPL but was nobody in the EPL.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Gary Hooper does at Hull.

Wanyama did play in the CL. Celtic had a good campaign this year. beating Barca.

if anyone saw that game (and i did) you'll know that barca thumped them off the pick for 85mins. barca were exposed for what they were by bayern and all celtic did was defend like mad and got a dream goal for a yougn lad who'll never have a better moment in his career.

    HARDLY THE RECOMMENDATION FOR 10MIL!

Just flying a kite here - don't for a minute think it'd work, or is even likely, since I don't think he'd sign for us, and he'd have no resale value - a real no-no under FSG - but I note that Tevez has just a year left on his contract at the minute. And while I'm sure Citeh don't need the money, FFF has to come into the equation sometime.

A cheeky £10mil bid perhaps - Juve are sounding Citeh out at the moment... Apparently AC don't have room in their squad...

I think he's a top class player and for all of his problems off the pitch, he will still give 100% on the pitch.

However, I think we can spend the money better <ok>.

  11. Maybe we should ask for £50m plus Tevez should Man City come knocking?

What? Are you referring to Suarez here. What would be the point in Suarez moving to citeh? He wants out of the UK (allegedly)

  13. I agree but there have been rumours. He will be hated if he moves to another English (or Welsh) club!

You mean Tevez who one minutes hates living here, the next loves here. One minute wants to stay and play, the next wants to leave. The Tevez who works really hard and does well when he plays, but isnt always in the mood to play.

    No.

Yeah, and Wanyama was central to that defending. Watch the youtube videos of him from those games. Shows every touch he had, so not just the good bits. Had two excellent games against them.

I was going to say this. While I'd never suggest buying a player based on two good games & I haven't seen enough of him with Celtic to judge.

Yes Celtic defended and like with all teams against Barca it was desperate at times but unlike Chelsea, Celtic were disciplined in how they came out when they got the ball and Wanyana was central to this.

I won't judge a player on what league he plays in & if we're after him I assume our scouting team did more than look at him without any context.

still no recommendation, sorry. Scottish league is just what it is. Take a couple of games out in europe and say the guy is a 10mil buy? nah not for me.

That's not what I said; I refuted your specific point that downgraded Celtics performances against Barca (which in turn devalued W's significant part in them). It was a hell of a lot more planned and disciplined than Chelsea's just sit back and hope.

They counter attacked perfectly. And not just on the occasions they scored (unlike Chelsea) they caused Barca serious problems without the ball.

And I did say that IF we are actually in for him then I, being the non professional coach/scout/ expert have to assume the transfer team saw more than "he looks good in a **** league"

Just as I assume previous scouting teams saw more in the until then unknowns from 2nd rate leagues that went on to be great players for us in the past.

By all means, if the team get him & he fails to live up to the PL, THEN I'll question their judgement.

Of course they may not be looking at him at all lol.....

I think Wanyama is a beast and well worth £10mil. Considering what we paid for Allen and Henderson I think £10mil for him is a good deal.

10million is alot for someone who's not going to play much...He won't start ahead of Lucas or Gerrard, especially against the big teams which is normally where you'd want two defensive midfielders. If we want a defensive mid to play around with tactically, we should be looking for cheaper imo and spend that money elsewhere. A commanding centre back would be nice!

Which is why Miggy signing doesn't make much sense right now, unless Reina leaves or Mig is loaned back for a season.
