Just saw this bloke, possibly the most boring man that has ever lived, telling the people of Brazil to get behind the world cup. The country is in poverty and a fcking mess the answer to the world cup is to call the whole thing off. If you are starving the last thing you want to see is a sprinkling of overpaid spoilt tossers chasing a ball about trying to get it thru 3 pieces of wood into a net (a sort of less intelligent version of the common or garden dog) for the entertainment of the middle/upper classes in what is now a sport for the middle/upper classes. That they even let this out of touch ****er have an opinion is bollocks.
Why should this thread be closed. It raises important socio/political points about the attempted brain washing of the Brazilian government and how someone like Pele is an out of touch dinosaur who is basically a puppet for the government. However, the Brazilian people themselves have now realised that.
A. The world cup is coming to brazil, football brings joy to millions of people around the world. For some people its something to look forward to B. Pele is a former world class footballer who is idolized by many C. The world cup whilst initially costing millions of dollars will help them generate money from fans coming into the country helping the country's economy D. if you think that 'sprinkling of overpaid spoilt tossers chasing a ball about trying to get it thru 3 pieces of wood into a net' is poor then why do you watch it E. Football has never been for the upper classes, that is Rugby. Football has always been mainly for the working class, hence the children mainly play it compared to the rich kids who attend boarding school and play rugby F. You have insulted a man without really thinking about it G. Where are your sources to say he is a government puppet? I rest my case
Brazil is in turmoil atm with police firing baton rounds & tear gas at protesters. Over 300,000 took to the streets over poverty, that's half the population of Glasgow ffs.
Aren't most of the Brasilian footballers from these poverty ridden areas? Don't they learn playing football all day in the favelas? Do they not have a sense of coumminty knowing where they came from?
I'm with nomoregeordies with this one Pele like most footballers are out of touch with reality,if this amount of people are against it then the government should listen. I know for one that if my country had millions in poverty, and suffering from corrupt politicians i'd be on the streets voiceing my opinion. POWER TO THE PEOPLE
Brasil is also hosting the 2016 Olympics. Surely this helps with investment in the country from overseas companies creating jobs etc. The UK is up **** creek at the moment but I would love to have the World Cup here next year.
I think its the OP who is the ignorant tosser. Pele on the otherhand remains one of the greatest players and ambassadors the game has ever, or will ever see. End of.

Sounds to me like they have done what most countries do to rake in as much cash as possible. Before the confed cup have everything normal price, During confed cup hike the prices up for the foreigners coming. After Confed cup put the prices back down again for the locals rinse and repeat for the World Cup. But the locals didnt like it and all hell has broken loose. I still think the World Cup will be a success (its that big it always is even if it doesnt take awhile to get going).
