Newcastle United have reportedly made their interest in Wilfried Bony concrete this week by tabling a £12m offer for the Ivory Coast striker.

Bony has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League for over a year, with West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce a long-term admirer of the free-scoring forward.

The Magpies have stolen a march on their rivals for Bony's signature by offering Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem around £12m for the 24-year-old, according to talkSPORT.

Everton, Swansea City and Anzhi Makhachkala are all thought to be monitoring Bony's availability this summer after a breakthrough season in Eredivisie, which saw the marksman bag 31 league goals.

Newcastle are reported to have launched a £12million bid to sign striker Wilfried Bony from Vitesse Arnhem.

Toon boss Alan Pardew has made finding a new striker one of his top priorities this summer and he has long been linked with a move for Bony, who is also attracting interest from Swansea and Everton.
The 24-year-old was a revelation in the Dutch top flight last season when firing home 31 goals but he is now keen to try his luck in England and would no doubt jump at the chance of a move to St James' Park.
However the fee could be the stumbling block as Vitesse are reported to be holding out for £15million and that could stretch the Magpies a little bit too far.
That could make Anzhi Makhachkala favourites to land the player as the Russian side would have no problem meeting Vitesse's valuation and would also be able to offer the player a bumper deal.

he'd be nuts to join us at the minute. It's entirely possible we'd sign him, then sell every player we have capable of setting him up!

don't forget, we have a good relationship with Dutch clubs, plus Ashley pays cash up front where others don't.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jun/25/newcastle-united-vitesse-wilfried-bony

Wilfried Bony has been placed high on Newcastle United's summer shopping list after Mike Ashley, the club's owner, pledged to reinforce Alan Pardew's side by investing in a prolific striker.

The Vitesse forward, who has scored 46 goals in 63 games for the Dutch side, is a 24-year-old Ivorian who perfectly fits the profile of young-ish, fast-emerging players Newcastle invariably seek to sign.

With Everton and Swansea also interested in Bony, St Etienne's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Aston Villa's Darren Bent remain back-up options as Pardew and the club's new director of football, Joe Kinnear, seek a replacement for Demba Ba who left for Chelsea last January.

Another African striker who'll be off to ACON along with Cisse??? I thought this was one of the main reasons we need a new striker? If we plan on getting another one in as well then by all means but would rather have a European striker.

    An excellent point. <ok>

We're going to need some British talent and if that means taking a chance on Darren Bent, so be it.

Of course, that's not going to happen... no sell-on value for Bent. <doh>

I confidently predict that IF we bought Darren Bent, you'd be one of the first on here moaning about how crap a signing he is!

I confidently predict he'd do well to beat me to it because he is ****e.

I'd rather take risk on Hooper, Austin or Rhodes.

Cracking shout, he's done well for himself in Scotland and would almost certainly cut it in the EPL, if not he has sell on value if he doesn't .

We've always had british strikers. I think the british mentality suits being a striker up here. Fair enough the likes of Shearer, Beardsley, Ferguson, Owen and Ferdinand were already well know. But Coley was plucked from obscurity at Bristol City after being jettisoned by Arsenal. Bellamy was plucked from championship level at Norwich and Coventry. Then you had the likes of Mathie, Allen, Kitson, Peacock, Kelly, Cort, Huckerby, Lua Lua all did jobs for us ranging from ok to very good. I think the fervour that surrounds a striker and passion that comes with it fires something in a british mans mentality.

He has a good scoring record if played regularly. He's been injured and sat on the bench for Vile.

I think he would do a good job - he was flying in an England shirt not so long ago...

This could be a good move by Ashley. He's got in there first with a Take It Or Leave It Offer.

If a player wants to join us for that then good. But if it comes to squabbling for money? Well, there's other clubs he can play for if that's the players prime motivation.

If Ashley puts down a fair price marker on the table and the lad wants to join Newcastle then good otherwise Ashley is right; he shouldn't get into a bidding war.

Christ, whenever did I become an Ashley apologist? Nurse, the meds!

If we sign Hooper for next season we will be in a relegation battle again. Scoring goals against **** teams in a **** league in Scotland means **** all.

He has a canny CL record too. Being a good player in Scotland does not automatically mean you won't cut it in England. It all depends on the player. Henrik Larsson, Di Canio and many others have shown this previously.

Gary Hooper is better than Shola Ameobi any day of the week. Therefore if we were to sign him complement Cisse then we'd be better off. If we were to sign him and Rhodes, we'd be better off again. Rhodes is playing in the Championship, but I've seen enough of him to think he'd do well at PL level, same goes for Hooper.
