Not interested. He was part of a squad double relegated and now released - says everything we need to know.

Yes, people said similar things about Routledge. Ohara is a decent player for us,if we can have him cheap as chips and help him return to former glory then he would be a worthwhile investment. He has all the skills but lets be honest he chose badly in going to a team of cloggers at Wolves !!

Was very instrumental in almost saving pompey, and played well for them so why not ?

His bird seems like a big time Charlie though ! but as for being a young pro with something to prove he fits the bill for us and the swans ethos being brought up at Spurs :)

    Yes for me with provisos......

At 26 he is still young enough to improve and I would never equate his performances at Wolves with what he could do in our team. Terrific left foot and bags of energy. He has talent and it just might blossom with our style of football and the players he has around him. Let's face it, he was playing with dross at Wolves and that would impair anyone's performance in all sorts of ways.

I think he would be a more than decent squad player if Laudrup can get him to perform to his potential. The provisos are, of course, all financial. If they are sensible then he is one I would take a punt on. Would he count as British? Obviously in his favour if he does.

Born in Dartford, England. He would count as domestic.

No for me, He is no better than what we have in reserve, so no point. He is a central midfield player. He is nowhere near what we have. Would you play him in front of JDG, Briton, Michu, Ki, Augustein, would be an absolute pointless signing.

We need to bring in players who are least as good as we've got or better.Thats the only way we're going even tread water at this level , there's still a lot of dead wood at the club who need to move on to free up monies and imo O'hara would just add to that list

I would definitely put him ahead of kemy . Midfield is very strong here but being British is a big bonus.

This is going to be where we struggle a little is finding quality domestic players. We have Jazz, but is he depth at full back or midfield. ManC paid us a nice wad of cash to have a domestic in Sinclair sit on the bench or in the stand - it's a crazy situation and it's got to be impacting all Prem clubs.

Agree yankee, its a situation that may turn out to be our weak point. Its one thing signing cheap talent from Spain that will do a job, but a decent British player is daft money that a team like us just doesn't want to pay !!

Selling off our family silver could be harmful for more reasons than we think!
In our squad we have, if I recall correctly, this amount of UK home players

    Williams
    Davies
    Taylor
    Monk
    Tate
    Britton
    Dyer
    Routs
    Moore

We could be without Williams, monk, tate or moore this summer, so that would leave us dangerously low on homegrown players.

But guys we just cant sign somone because they are british they have to be capable of adding to the squad and O'hara simply doesnt fit the bill.

There's many a quality British player out there , ok some might be over-priced but many overseas players aren't exactly cheap.

O Hara ...yes I'd sign him.

Where do you think Leon, Tate, Monk came from ...English league.

It's the balance ...yes I'd love a Kone or Gomis signing to be announced soon .

I'd also like to see the right UK based players drafted in ( we have UK based scouts )

I agree that finding a place for him would be priority but as I said, if we could off load Kemy then it would free up some space. Ive not heard this as being a serious target for us anyway, I guess we are discussing more about if he would fit our style and be worth a chance on, I think he would be a good signing but of course its all pure speculation anyway :)

Even if we release Kemmy, this guy isnt good enough for what we want. I would love to sign british, but they have to be good enough and he simply isnt, Why not sign Henry or Johnson while we are at it, they are both british and they both played PL. He played in a side that got relegated to league one for a reason. The players werent good enough. He is a half tidy championship player at best. Mind you that is just my opinion.

Most of our team were half tidy championship players too mind...

Anyway, all bollocks and speculation init, id take him you wouldn't but its only Huw that knows the true score on that one(im pretty sure this would be nothing to do with Laudrup ) <cheers>
