I think that's very generous. I'd like to think that we'll be competing at the top end of the table, but all of our latest signings are youth related so in a way I am hoping that there will be a real effort to bleed the youth this season and to build towards a young, hungry team.
I have a feeling that by the end of the season we are likely to have a team on the park with an average age of close to 24 which if they are holding their own would mean I would be happy even if we were not challenging at the top of the table because if you think about it that would mean a lot of young players which would bode well for the years following. I would rather we spent a year or two in L1 if it meant we would go up with a squad of players who could go one better than the squad we had at our last promotion season.
Current teams age Fielding 25 Moloney 24 Flint 23 Williams 20 Cunningham 21 Adomah 25 Wynter 19 Kelly 22 Anderson 25 Davies 25 Baldock 24 Very young side that, Would be quite happy to see that team play against Bradford
Shiny id be surprised if that is the starting 11. I would expect Reid (still young) to be starting as he is the main person the club has used in advertising season tickets and new kit so would then be made not to use him and Wynter has said himself that he doesnt expect to start teh first game but will look to push himself in to the first team. I also dont expect Williams to start as SOD will probably look to use a more experience player like Fontaine or Nytanga there (if he signs) even though 99% would prefer to see 2 new centre defenders. And I do hope we can get in a new goal scoring striker and a decent out and out left winger similar to McIndoe was.
..................Fielding 25 Moloney 24 Flint 23 Williams 20 Bryan 19 xxxxxxx....... Elliott 28 Kelly 22 Anderson 25 ............xxxxxxxxxxx........Taylor 26 With the players expected to leave I think this might be a little closer to what we might be seeing with either one of the xxxxxx players or Marvin as Captain.
