The People have Billy Sharp being available for £1.2 million. Is he worth a punt as a squad player at this price?

No, no pace. A Championship player only.

But are Hooper or Austin any faster?

Hooper and Austin are much better than Sharp.

Better value finding that extra half a million, or whatever, to get Austin or Hooper imo.

Mboyo would be better as well. Apparently he qualifies to play for Wales.

I don't know. I aren't that bothered about either of those 2 either to be honest.

I'd rather have Odemwingie, Carlton Cole and any 'gamble' player - Le Fondre?

They have all played in the PL and don't require time to adjust.

Austin, according to someone at work (Burnley ST holder) isn't half as good as the fella they sold to Saints and Fletcher now at Sunderland. He described him as a jonny on the spot player - there to put chances away, but you need more than that in the PL, you need pace and you need to create your own chances. He doesn't think he'll make the step up to deliver what we need.

Hooper, scored the odd goal in the Champions League, the rest of the time it's against completely shocking opposition. I think the bid we put in before was very reasonable, not sure if coming from the SPL to the EPL is too big a step change for him.

Would Grant Holt be available at Norwich? They signed Becchio and Van Wolfswinkel (Sp) they may have another crack at Hooper, so would Holt be surplus?

I was just making the point that pace isn't the be all and end all for a striker.

It is in the PL. that was the stark noticeable difference from when we last featured. That and Teams convert more goals per chances created.

Not really the same sort of quality as Austin or Hooper so no.

... but I have a feeling Fryatt is off (especially with this HU policy) if so Sharp would be a suitable squad replacement/

I know Billy Sharp isn't good enough.

Did/ does Shearer, Drogba, Holt, Lambert, Dzeko, Carroll, Crouch, Michu, Berbatov, Ba, Jelavic, etc have rapid pace? No.

    Significantly, and better as well.

They may make the grade at EPL, he wouldn't in my opinion.

By birth, through Grand Parents or Residency, or by dint of being a rapist? Did his 3 years inside qualify him for Wales?

You're not comparing apples with apples. These are hold up players, which Sharp isn't. Nor is he quick. Shearer was one of the quickest over a very short distance. Drogba, Ba I would have described as relatively quick. So your point isn't really valid.
