Big season for him or will he not see any first team action at all?

He put in some good performances last time we were in the prem but didn't get a look in at all really last season.

I'm really divided on him to be honest. He's the most frustrating player we have. 9 times out of 10 when he came off the subs bench he was just a crab, passing sideways and injecting no pace at all into the attacks. But every once in a while he'd turn and drift passed someone effortlessly, and I just think 'do this all the time!'

I'm hoping he gets reinvigorated again and finds his form this season because the potential was/is all there.

Personally I like Cairney, but I do sense that he lives off the past on and off the pitch and as a result doesn't pull his finger out. Like you say though, he has it just have to see if it shows consistently next season if be gets the opportunity.

Cairney was great in the Premier League (and at a much younger age too) but was shown to be a weak fairy-like player in the Championship. I think he'll have a minor role to play, and will probably be in our Cup squad again.

He's a good player, rarely gives the ball away. I think his fitness work post injuries did him the world of good as he came back very lean. I think Bruce commented that his weight was 7lbs less than before the injury, so much more athletic and able to cope with the rigours of professional football. He seems to be one of those players that raises his game when playing amongst a better standard of player, hopefully he'll make his mark this season.

His problem was more that you don't change a winning team and he never got the run he needs.
He needs some luck to get a spot and then a run of games.
He has Brady and Quinn out left to shift and there are a few of the attacking midfield options that preclude him being a certainty in any position now we have a few left pegs.

I'd love to see Tom given a chance next season, but i have feeling it won't happen. It's time for him to move on i'm afraid,as he's far too classy a player to sit on the bench, season after season. Our loss...

His problem is that he can only use his left foot!Actually his problem is that he can only use the inside of his left foot.
Doesn't even use his right foot to tackle.

I'd keep him, especially as we don't have that many centre-mid options of PL quality. Just hope he pulls his finger out.

A more pertinent question, will he still be here for next season?

I think it was mentioned a month or so ago, that he was available if a decent offer came in.

He couldnt get a game last season, we've not got rid of any midfielders and we will be signing one possibly two. He's toast. I backed TC quite a lot, Brucey gasve him a glowing endorsement when he came back from injury he didnt grasp the chance.
buck his ideas up or drift out of the game.

He has never bossed the midfield as someone with his skill should- even at Championship level.

He always give the impression he is not trying too hard and it doesn't really matter to him. Just jogs around the centre hoping it will get passed to him, not fussed if he doesn't get it.

I heard back in May that Bournemouth, Yeovil and Brighton were interested in taking him on loan, but I don't know if they will follow it up.

Last season he was good when he played and only got out of the team due to injury, looked good when he came back but then disappeared for the last few months of the season. This is the thing with Cairney there's something about him manager's don't like, three consecutive managers have left him out of the team without him actually doing anything wrong on the pitch. It must be something he's doing, or not doing, in training or something.

I always got the impression that off the pitch he got a bit too big for his boots and his rapid rise to fame made his ego rather large. He is a great little player and I'd keep hold of him as a squad player, but with Koren, Meyler, Quinn, Evans and the incoming defensive midfielder (whoever it is) ahead of him he isn't going to get much of a look in. Think we'll see him go out on loan; he's still young so maybe an extended first team run is just what he needs.

Any manager would and rightly should be wary of a white Englishman who calls himself T.Dot.

Always thought he was massively overrated.

Doesn't make a difference to anything really, and I think it's a shame he's never repaid the faith shown in him by many, many fans.
