Hi guys - not been across to piss you about regarding your drop - typing wum crap after the event is all too easy. Relegation must have been huge blow, though from what I read over here that last couple of months of the season, it seemed many of you had accepted it with quite a few games still left to play. Toward the end, survival became a question of mathematics, and when it gets to that stage it's realistically game over. Not even going to mention us across the water. This is a genuine question for you guys about getting back to the Championship at the first attempt. A totally feasible ambition, though patience with rebuilding from the bottom may seem the prudent approach for some. I honestly haven't read anything on your forum for the past few months, so out of ignorance of anything that you might have discussed recently on here, I'll just ask this. I know info on transfers in and out are pretty sparse all round at the moment, but if you're to finish top 2 for auto promo, which other two sides at the moment in the division do you think you'll have to keep behind you? I'd go for the two that went down with you. Wolves with Jackett there now (Saunders was out of his depth), and also Posh who've done it before. Any others look like potential auto candidates?
Well if it isn't this gobshite Most fans views are completely different. Some think we will go up. Some think play offs some think we will of had a good season to finish above the relegation zone? Me personally I think we will go back up, Have a good feeling that SOD will get it right and is just playing down talk of promotion in case it back fires. The players we are being linked with and close to signing are ones which we would be happy with in the championship and some of the players we're are keeping are good enough for the championship so we hope they don't get sold. I pretty much accepted relegation in late January/Early February. We didn't get rid of McInnes quick enough and it cost us big time. A lot more faith in SOD and I think under him we will be in the top 6 for most of the season. So to sum it up, I think we will be playing each other again next season
We are the three favourites in order 1,Wolves 2,city 3,Boro There is always one or two suprises but i would take 2nd. One thing i do believe we have the manager to take us back up. We need to see some movement in and out, we can then see what the squad is about. We need to return to the championship at the first attempt, anything less will be a big dissapointment.
That's not a very pleasant opening line welcome shiny - I could easily have been offended there......... If we're playing in the same division in 2014/15, then so be it, at least we got there. Don't want to turn this thread into another wum scrum, I just asked for some BC supporter's opinions as to the clubs you'll be playing that could be your main obstacles to you getting back at the first attempt.
Yep - I suppose the three that dropped are bound to figure in the betting to go back up. I always thought Brentford were quite strong but always seem to miss out - maybe this year for them as an outsider?
I knew you wouldn't of been offended Fair play for you getting to the prem. I would quite happily be in that league for a season rather than be in league 1 I was just joking about meeting next season, Don't bite
If you want to have a guess at where we will finish - http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/213615-Final-Position-Prediction
Teams i think we will be fighting with wolves and pboro i think bradford could be up there Mk dons brentford and preston were all mentioned as teams who will be up there on a league 1 forum i was looking at
I think the teams battling for the top 6 spots will be us, Wolves, Posh, Sheff U, MK Dons, and perhaps Brentford, Gillingham, Swindon and Bradford too. Realistically, I'd expect the top 2 to be out of Wolves, Sheff Utd and P'boro to be honest.
Obvious ones are Wolves and Sheff U (money talks) Peterborough looked to have kept a reasonable squad (so far) Brentford - may have a play-off hangover MK Dons will be there or thereabouts Promoted teams like Bradford (who we play first) and Gills with momentum may be up there to Depends on finances for Swindon and Coventry Preston must be better this year - surely? All the best in the Prem
Good appraisal of the upcoming opposition there smh, and many thanks for your last commnet - still can't believe it to be honest.
Relegation was not a blow, it was earnt and merited, and amongst my peers greeted with indifference. Getting back? I hope to see a club operating in a cohesive manner, with its XI based on youth with a few experienced players. A sensible improvement will be that XI looking like they want to be here and competing honestly with the opposition.
I'm glad it wasn't a blow. Earning and meriting it for whatever reason anyone wants to put on it was never in dispute. However, to some supporters, indifference isn't an option.
Tommy was in school in his English class when the teacher asked for pupils to define Indifferent after several attempts Tommy put his hand up. Now Tommy was not the brightest shilling in the class so almost everyone else was asked first. Finally when there was no one else to ask the teacher asked little Tommy to give his definition of Indifferent and he says 'Indifferent means wonderful' The teacher is taken aback as even for Tommy this is odd to say the least, so she asks how he arrived at that explanation. Tommy said I heard it last night there was a lot of noise comming from my parents bedroom so I was on my way there to ask if everything was OK when I heard mom and Dad talking Mom said that was wonderful darling and Dad replied that's because it was Indifferent honey.
Morning Sparkey, Congrats again and genuinely hope you and your 'friends' down the road do well next season. Me, I've never been more underwhelmed about a forthcoming season. Been here so many times, it's a guts ache - but WTF can you do.
Hawky baby - are you trying to derail this serious football thread with sexual innuendo? If you want to know what indifferent really means, pay a visit to Brighton & Ho...oh, oh, ohhhh!!! ..................
Hello Redprintt - thanks for the good wishes and glad to see someone with a "gutsache" about your situation rather than indifference. Hope you can sort it out and get some decent backing from your owner. I don't mean just throwing money at it, just being realistic about what's needed to get your club back up a division (at least). Getting 11 players who want to play for the club is a decent start but not necessarily the answer. I could get 11 players together who want to play for Porthcawl Utd, but they wouldn't win **** all. Emotional outpourings from players who would "die for the club" is one thing, getting enough points on the board to achieve success quite another. Whether anyone likes it or not, this is a professional matter and a balance has to be struck rather than adopting altruistic principles at the club - that's ANY club. Sad as some may find it, a parochial policy is the road to nowhere in the modern game. Relying purely on such principles may be fine at local league level, but they very rarely work in the professional game. Of course, Bristol City may prove the exception, but I doubt it.
I agree with these teams being in the mix, plus one surprise team. I don't think you will get relegated next season Sparkplug. Footballers are weird folk, and I believe selling your club to some foreigner to play in this country you have a lot to offer. A cosmopolitan city, capital of Wales, will go a long way in negotiating deals. You just ought to let Malky do the dealing, if Tan gets involved they might only be getting in Malaysian players, or players that he wants not the ones Malky wants. If I was a Cardiff fan now, I would be hoping some investers were looking at the club to keep it going and allowing Cardiff to return to their true colours and stop this rubbish about calling it Cardiff Dragons etc. This was not a dig at selling out, just giving my opinion before Tan ruins the club. Good luck in the Prem, a place where we would all like to be I will still put glass on the training pitch and spit on it when I'm visiting my mum, in the Vale of Glamorgan apartments
