I've read 2 threads. One about the sale of mignolet, the other sess.

People seem to be pleased about the money being generated by these sales? Pound notes do not win you football games, good players do, I.e mig and sess.

How will we ever build a competitive side if we continue to sell our best players?

When we sold gyan, bent and hendo, we generated 50mill, the following 2 seasons we nearly went down.

People on here moan about the clubs players and position, and then are happy when our best players are sold, "because we generated good money"

When united sold ronaldo and got £80, do you think their fans were happy?

The mentality of most people on here is poor.

Lets buy everyone, preventing every other team from being able to field 11 players. They will forfeit every game. We will win everything.

I think Mig is very replaceable - Westwood will do a very good job, plus there are plenty of other competent keepers out there.

The alternative is to let him run his contract down and well an asset become effectively worthless.

If we force kept Gyan Bent and Henderson we probably would have went down, as we would not have had the cash and we would have 3 very disgruntled players (well 2 anyway) and both strikers who probably wouldnt have tried to score.

If a player says, "I do not want to be here" then it doesnt matter how good he is, its cya and give us the cash, we are not Man U with Rooney and can just give him what he wants, then buy RVP for 30 million just to top up our striking options.

and £80 i think i would have been pissed off with that amount, but i believe Ronaldo scored 44 goals for Man U before he went, Man U have won titles, they didnt need to sell him, and the Glaziers probably got 90% of the transfer fee anyway (until RVP).

Ok Sunderland supporter answer me this.

Mignolet will not sign a new contract so we tell him he is going nowhere for two years and let him go for nothing fantastic business that is. We also have a good keeper in westwood who may people wanted to be our number 1 when he signed.
I agree sess is a fantastic player but I do not think he really fits in to our style of play I will be sorry to see him go

I also dare say that not one Sunderland supporter on here wants Mig to go but if he won,t sign get rid now

If you seriously think mig is very replaceable then please do not comment further on this post, your footballing knowledge is zero.

He has 2 years left on his deal, if after them 2 years we improve he could sign another deal? And if we don't, he would leave, but save us 10+ points a season in the meantime.

You say sess don't fit into how we play? Doesn't PDC want to play exciting attacking football?? How the hell doesn't sess fit into that? He is the definition of that. He didnt fit into MONs style, but no one other than a defencive mid who never shoots could fit into that style. Yet sess was still our best player.

Your argument makes absolutely no sense

We arent big enough a team to hold on to all our top players for the rest of their careers.

I would much prefer some top quality players using us as a stepping stone to bigger things than having a load of plodders (Bardsley) sticking around for ages and not doing anything of note

Mings value would be slashed in half this time next year if we allowed him to run into his final year of his contract. I say sell him now while we can get a good amount for him. I have every bit of faith in Westwood, I rate the lad highly! We've also got Pickford coming through the ranks and he's very highly rated!

I'm still unsure about letting Sess go. On his day he's unplayable, but he can also be inconsistent aswell. He still hasnt got the natural scoring ability to play as a 2nd striker, and we have to shape our formation to suit him aswell.
If we get offered under 10m I'd keep him, anymore than that I'd bite the bullet and let him go!

im not happy about potentially losing mig or sess. but if they are going anyway we should screw every penny out of whoever comes in. you cant force players to see out there contracts any more as your stuck with an unhappy player who values drops everyday they stay and it can unbalance the dressing room harmony

And you my friend must learn to respect other peoples opinion.

We had the same angst when Sorensen left - and he was a far better keeper than Mig.

if Mig is that good why is he not even the Belgian number 1?

Because Courtois is way way better, taking nothing from the Mig but I don't think he'll ever have the Belgian number one jersey. I think Courtois will go on to be one of the all time greats

stu your argument makes less sense to let players go for nothing if mig thought anything of the club he could have signed a new deal with a £10 mill release clause in if we didn,t improve the only thing I am disappointed in is that I think he could do better than Liverpool

Seems your knowledge is zero, as it happens.

Have you forgot that Westwood was keeping him out of the team this season just gone?

Mignolet said he would not sign a new contract, so get rid.

Worst post read on this sunderland forum. Seems your unaware of the happenings outside the old team ( which incidently was the team that nearly got relegated )
