Wow! That's quite a shock. I was thinking of countries closer to home, France, Germany... But still, wow!
Im surprised the BBC hasn't made a story about the America GP deal for next year and beyond. That's a relevant F1 story right? They could also mention how Lewis Hamilton 'The 2008 world champion' has a great track record in north America.
Not sure if youse guys have seen this but once they get Firstrow blocked they'll likely go for the rest, too. I'm not sure how well these feeds perform through a proxy but it'll be worth testing during the British GP weekend.
http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/other-sports/bbc-sorry-after-grand-prix-gaffe-8700528.html stick to your own sport Tennis!
F1 show really showing how dumbed down, irrelevant and ruined everything is. Topgear-esque audience. Nothing seems proffessional in this sport anymore. Sack Suzi off BBC and cover more races before Sky dismantles the sport. If it isn't already.
Audience seemed like posh quorks without an inch of knowledge. Just there because they could afford the ticket... money money money.
They just showed live premier league football on pick tv! Why can't they do that with F1 now and then. I hope BT buy the rights to f1
I don't as it means I would have no choice but to change TV provider as can;t get BT Sport on VirginMedia. That would make them worse than Sky as you'd have no choice but to go with BT if you wanted all live GP's At least with Sky it can be watched with whichever TV provider you have. ESPN have also gone to BT, so no DTM, NASCAR review or any live Prem football now for me
They are on VirginMedia now. Only the most expensive package though. I watched a little of BT sport yesterday and it was pretty awful to be honest. Hopefully they'll improve as they settle in.
When did that appear on Virgin!? All I've been seeing the last week is ESPN not available anymore!? I have the XL package, so going to grab a beer and watch the Claire Balding show. What was that about the quality...... oh yeah... see your point now.
Bit outdated now but: For those of you that haven’t followed my ratings, we have seen since 2000 three ‘phases’. Phase 1, from 2000 to 2006 saw ratings drop from 4 million viewers to under 3 million viewers thanks to the lack of British interest and Michael Schumacher’s dominance. With Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button on the horizon, and Formula 1 returning to BBC, meant that phase 2 from 2007 to 2011 saw ratings rise, from just over 3 million viewers to 4.6 million viewers. Phase 3 is simply 2012. Ratings dropped half a million between 2011 and 2012. Whilst the change of broadcasting rights was definitely one reason, as I outlined in my 2012 piece at the end of last year, the ‘Summer of sport’ in this country was another factor which has to be accounted for. Official ratings from BARB show that, as it stands, 2012 was a blip. So far, Formula 1 is rating in between 2010 and 2011′s mid-season average and is back to the viewing figure levels pre-2012. As always, the figures comprise of: - Sky live and BBC highlights - Sky live, BBC live and BBC re-run (Asian based races) - Sky and BBC live (non-Asian based races) However, it is not all rosy. Further analysis shows that, versus the same races last season, BBC’s Formula 1 ratings have increased 21 percent, whilst Sky Sports F1′s ratings have dropped 9 percent. - BBC F1 (3.18 million vs 3.83 million) - Sky Sports F1 (699,000 vs 638,000) The Sky drop is further reflected in their channel reach, which has dropped half a million during live race weeks this year: please log in to view this image As the graph shows, only two races for them this season have increased in terms of reach, Monaco, one of their exclusive races, and Hungary due to no Olympics clash. Regarding programme averages for them, only Britain, Monaco and Hungary have increased. Unfortunately, it is difficult to find many positives for Sky as the picture is mainly decreases. Overall, the 2013 season is currently averaging 4.47 million viewers, or 4.70 million viewers when taking into account Sky’s long programming length. http://f1broadcasting.wordpress.com/2013/08/20/the-ratings-picture-the-2013-verdict-so-far/
Down down down down.... F1 viewing figures are ever lower. They don't even feature in the top 10 overnight figures here: http://www.itvmedia.co.uk/highlights/ratings So the BBC got less than 2.9m and Sky got less than 500k which I guess is reasonably to expected. Will have to wait till the end of the week to get the actual figures. The last race in Singapore Sky had 619,000 Sky viewers. That is the lowest yet for a Sky exclusive race in the European time zone.

Surprise surprise http://f1broadcasting.wordpress.com/2014/01/04/a-tale-of-two-halves-as-tv-ratings-increase-slightly/ BBC up whilst sky goes down. Also the season saw a massive drop off in viewers as the season progressed.
