arsenal do well with a team of foreign players , like its been said tried mostly home nationals , and at times is been awful. I hope this is just a stepping stone or bridge to get the academy going full steam so even if we only make one signing a season all the rest have come through the ranks and know the script. I know I`m a dreamer
What choice do we have spend millions on British players or look at the cheaper option ? Ellis had drawn a line and now we have to cut our cloth accordingly , as some on here have said we need a balance but with the squad being so paper thin I don't think it will hurt getting 6 7 or even 8 foreign players in to help with numbers
commanchio1 .. I totally agree . they can afford , we connot, but it seems to me the line in the sand has been drawn. safc are not going to buy has beens or give my mate a job , type players. I , along with all the rest of the lads on here hope it is a mid table (or higher) we play well , score , compete and enterain(no doubt with PDC) in the coming season. this has to work. (especially the academy)
Don't know why young British footballers are not being given a fair deal here, Bale, Walcott, Oxlade were bought at reasonable prices and have greatly matured into internationals. Hart was offered to ManU for quarter of a mil soem time ago but they thought they had better at the time. We seem to judge all young British players by our club's inability to develop our own youngsters and the ones like Whickham that we buy in. There's a whole world full of cheap footballers, we are just a little nation by comparison.
Lets not forget a certain keeper who we got from a little known foreign club and turned out to be amazing. Of course I'm talking about Tommy AND the Mig
