I haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere else, but I was just reading the newsletter from Hammersmith and Fulham, and it seems that what was the frontrunner in terms of potential sites for a new QPR stadium is about to get a complete £300,000 upgrade from the council. Hopefully I’m reading too much into this, but it seems unlikely to me that the council is going to imminently sell us a site which they’ve just spent over a quarter of a million quid modernising. Crazier things have happened I guess.

    Anyway, here is the article:

Linford Christie Centre to be improved
    Wednesday June 12, 2013

With the success and excitement of last summer’s Olympic Games still fresh in the mind, Hammersmith & Fulham (H&F) Council has announced plans to refurbish the famous Linford Christie Outdoor Sports Centre.
The centre, found at Wormwood Scrubs was built in 1967 and is home to many of the borough’s leading sports clubs including the Thames Valley Harriers athletics club and Chiswick Hockey.
It features, amongst other things, an eight-lane 400-metre track, a spectator stand and floodlit training facilities, a full size all weather pitch and 4 5-side football pitches.
Now, H&F Council has announced that it intends to spend more than £300,000 refurbishing the facility. The money will be spent improving the changing rooms and toilets, repairing the leaking roof and upgrading the kitchen facilities within the club house.
Linford Christie Outdoor Sports Centre is used by around 100,000 people a year, including 50 schools. It hosts approximately 800 football and rugby matches a year and more than 3,200 all-weather pitch matches.
H&F Council deputy leader, Cllr Greg Smith said: “Hammersmith & Fulham is one of the sportiest borough’s in the capital, home to numerous sports clubs. Many of the clubs who use the Linford Christie Centre have been calling for improvements for some time and we are delighted that we will now be going ahead with this scheme. Sport is one of the best ways to stay healthy and I am sure people will enjoy using these new facilities.”
Work is likely to commence later in the year.

Yes, this sounds like very bad news indeed. Even if this was never actually a target it was just about the ideal location for us now that BBC and Unigate are dead. And we continue to hear nothing but teasers from the club on this vital topic. Just what is Beard up to and why has he lost his knack for PR?

If you believe the rumours the site that is actually being considered is the Car Giant place just off Scrubs lane. Apparently Mittal already owns the large scrap yard on the site.

Again just another rumour I have no facts to back it up.

For now in the Championship, I believe we're just fine staying at Loftus Road and trying to fill it to capacity when we play the likes of Barnsley at home.

The stadium will take years to build, it has to be started to be built very soon and should be ready before we go up. LR isnt even NPC standard, its L1 standard.

Got to agree with this..as much as i love HQ and for all my time ive spent there.....it really is well out of date and barely fit for purpose in the NPC now.
imagine as new supporter you went to your first premier league game not at old trafford, emerates or the etihad..but at Loftus road. i think you'd be mightly dissapointed.
now we all have very biased opinions so i know some wont agree and some will say great atmosphere, family club etc but lets be honest. As a sporting facility its pretty bad !
