This is what killed them for me. The rest they would of just laughed at them, especially number 5 trying to dictate the penalty. They should of just said, "obviously we gained an advantage, if no other teams were going to do it we weren't going to pass it up, Pirelli said everything was in place within the rules so we went along." The black helmets they could of at least said was to keep "media interest to a minimum" or to state with intent a Pirelli test with black helmets rather than a promotion event with normal helmets. Don't just go "yeah we shouldn't of done that our bad, but Ferrari should also be punished." IDIOTS!
The longer the day has gone on the more worried I have been about the penalty. I can see a race ban and exclusion from the constructors championship. Then I can see Mercedes leaving the sport.
Great defence. Re: gaining advantage; Mercedes do have legitimate claim that they were essentially subcontracted and were given the tyres blind so couldn't tell which was which. Might be something. But nowhere near enough.
Should use this gentlemen next to twitter: http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1/news/12433/8786110/Testgate-verdict-day-live- Actually refreshes very quickly that it sometimes gets it up even before twitter does.
Just in case you would like to know how to get your money back if Mercedes get a race ban for Silverstone: "2 SCL is unable to offer refunds or exchanges in respect of tickets purchased unless the Event is cancelled due to any circumstance(s) for which SCL is covered by its relevant insurance cover."
There are so many pots and kettles in that tribunal it's a wonder there's any room for the lawyers. Here's a different take on yesterday's proceedings.
are they waiting for 11:59:59 before announcing the verdict FFS. oh, and, um, British GP chat and predictions? anyone?
So they're banking on the FIA letting Ferrari get off Scot free, and then using that to cover themselves.
