i view this simply... who has the premier league medal? the english press will big anyone they think is going to be the star and they have jones winning medals so there you go.. .all i see is a pale sweatly slow fella who turns like a lorry myself.... the issue i have with buying for tomorrow CONSTANTLY is you become ajax or arsenal, a selling club that players start coming to a sa stepping stone. its hard to win anything if you buy 35 players every year on 5 year deals and they only stay 2/3 years.
Principle of the article is basically spot on. Only thing I'd have changed is its not established players that are the problem, it's the fact that nearly every manager we've had in recent years just ****ing panics when they get given some dollar!! Was absolutely gutted when we signed downing and Carroll - 52mill is shameful. And I do like Carroll but not for 13mill more than Suarez lol. Pretty excited about the way the summer looks like it's going to go, lots of young talented players that hopefully feel like they have something to prove (Coutinho and Sturridge style) being coached by a man that definitely seems to be adept at bringing the best out of the younger players. If not next year, then year afterwards if everything stays on an even keel, we have to be back in champions league. Or am I just getting over excited?
I understand the medal part and, TBH, I'm not that bothered that our players aren't praised too much, means they are not getting noticed and no one is going to try and poach them
Good scouting is what it's all about. But every new signing is a risk because players don't always replicate for their new club what they did at their old one or fulfil their promise - Kewell and Babel to name two. How many 'future stars' actually become just that. Unless you're Chelsea, City or utd and can get the finished article superstars - every single signing is a risk.
