Oh dear, not the words the fans wanted to hear me thinks? :) :) :)

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has insisted he is going nowhere after the resignation of managing director Derek Llambias plunged the club into fresh chaos.

The 51-year-old confirmed his intention in a brief message to the city's evening newspaper as news of Llambias' departure, which came in the wake of Joe Kinnear's controversial arrival as director of football, emerged.

Pardew told The Chronicle: "I'm staying - to take the club up the league."

It was the manager's first comment since the circus which has accompanied Kinnear's unveiling as the new senior executive in charge of all football-related matters at St James' Park pitched tent on Gallowgate.

Pardew and Kinnear met for the first time since the 66-year-old Irishman was appointed on Tuesday, and Press Association Sport understands the initial talks were amicable.

But it remains to be seen whether or not he and highly rated chief scout Graham Carr can forge a working partnership with a man who has a high opinion of his own abilities, but whose return to St James', where he was manager for less than six months during the 2008-09 season, has been greeted with incredulity by the club's fans.

    *************************************************************************

I'm sure there were quite a lot who were hoping Pardew would follow Llambias out the door. Another season of turmoil up the road then, oh dear, what a shame. :)

Aye. A lot of them think that`s the whole idea & they`re not best pleased.
There`s talk of Carr following Llambias now. That would be bad, he`s found some very good players for them.
    Ashley masterstroke = Total shambles.

Wise back? Now that would erupt!

Alan Shearer believes the appointment of Joe Kinnear as Newcastle's director of football has turned the club into a laughing stock.

Kinnear has wasted little time in making his presence felt with a series of free-ranging interviews which have hardly enhanced his reputation as he struggled to pronounce the names of some of his players, as well as managing director Derek Llambias.

Former Newcastle striker Shearer wrote in the Sun: "Where do we start? What I do know is that right now people are laughing at the football club I support. And that sickens me."

He added: "I promised myself years ago never to be surprised by what happens in football - particularly when it comes to Newcastle.

"But this situation really is stretching it a bit. While other clubs are all plotting and planning for next season, Newcastle have a manager who has just been totally undermined.

"Alan Pardew has said he will carry on but I am sure it will be a difficult situation."

Llambias subsequently resigned after learning that the 66-year-old Irishman would assume some of his duties under a surprise shake-up of the club's football activities instigated by sportswear tycoon Ashley.

Kinnear met manager Alan Pardew on Tuesday for the first time since he was installed, and the pair are said to have held amicable talks over the way forward. But Shearer believes Pardew's public silence on the matter is telling.

"His silence on the appointment of Kinnear himself over recent days said it all," Shearer wrote. "But what could he say?

"He is in such an intolerable position. He can't come out and slaughter his employers but at the same time he can't agree with a situation which no manager would find comfortable."

**** me, they're all joining in now. :)

FORMER Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness predicts that Joe Kinnear’s return to Tyneside will “end up in tears”, writes DANIEL PRINCE.

Souness also described the appointment of Kinnear as director of football as a “vote of no confidence” from owner Mike Ashley in manager Alan Pardew.

Derek Llambias resigned as Newcastle’s managing director yesterday, while there has been dismay by many fans towards Kinnear’s arrival.

The Irishman – who was in charge for 20 Premier League games at Newcastle in the Magpies’ relegation season of 2008/09 – is the senior executive in charge of all football matters, with Pardew and chief scout Graham Carr reporting directly to him.

Pardew is expected to stay at St James’s Park, but Souness – who was in charge of the Magpies between 2004 and 2006 – does not expect the new arrangement to work.

“I think it puts Alan Pardew in a very difficult situation,” he told Talksport.

“I know as a manager I wouldn’t want to be reading or hearing that someone is coming in to make all the footballing decisions for me.

“As a manager, you are obviously paid well, your neck is on the line and then someone else is going to be making all the big decisions at the football club.

“I wouldn’t accept it and I don’t think Alan Pardew will.

“I think it will end up in tears for someone.”

During his career in football, Souness has worked in Italy, Turkey and Portugal, where directors of football are common.

They have been less successful in England, and while the Scot believes the role can work in the Premier League, he cannot see Kinnear’s appointment proving fruitful.

He added: “In this instance, you are talking about someone who has had the power and it has been taken away from him.

“I think if that had been in the job description when he signed his contract he could accept that, but, in this instance, where he has had the power to decide who comes and who leaves and then it is going to be taken from you, that is a vote of no confidence.

“I think that is someone saying ‘Look, we are not happy with the way you are doing your job’ and as a manager I would find it very hard to accept that situation.

“This will not go down well with Alan Pardew, I can assure you.”

    Thanks mackemwelder!
The rest of Shearer's comments in the Sun show how out of touch with reality Kinnear is.
He lives in a world where he is either a) greatest manager who never got the recognition he deserved or b) is the most misunderstood football supremo in the world.
How can Ashley not see the delusionary idiot for what he is!
Anyway here is the rest of Shearer's comments:

Shearer eventually took over during that campaign, and is unhappy with the way the Irishman has portrayed the situation.

He continued: “I have another issue with Kinnear. Over the last few days he has banged on about how Newcastle would never have gone down had he not had his health problems and stayed on in the job to the end of the 2008-09 season.

“The implication being that it was first Chris Hughton and then my fault for the club being relegated.

“I had eight games as manager at the end of the season, won one, drew two and lost the rest. So, yes, I take my share of responsibility.

“But Kinnear had 19 league games in charge that season and won just four, taking 20 points.

“Indeed, before he was admitted to hospital with heart problems ahead of the West Brom away win on February 7, Newcastle had taken just two points from their previous 18.

“Chris Hughton could not arrest the slide in his brief role as caretaker, and nor could I.

“Given the downtrodden, disjointed group of players I took on, it would have been something special if I had.

“So it’s about time Kinnear took some responsibility for what happened as well.

“It was a real eye-opener when I did take charge for those final games. The team wasn’t just a mess, the club was a mess.”

Newcastle are always the second result I look for on match day and always will. We have a rivalry in the NE that's not matched anywhere in the league. Passionate yes friendly not always but the goings on at SJP have cut through the local rivalry. We are the football fans Sunderland and Newcastle together and I for one will back Newcastle supporters everywhere until this lunacy is ended and NUFC finally begin respecting the hard working fans who don't deserve this crap.
