Andy Dawsons testimonial match .

Thought I heard Andy Dawson say that his testimonial match was close to being announced and that it would be against foreign opposition on the Saturday prior to the opening League fixture. Anyone have any update on that announcement ?

It will be a sunday game by all accounts on the 11th August. Why not Celtic then as the Hoops are only playing another meaningless friendly game @ home on the 10th august to Liverpool.

 

Will it be a standard City XI? Even the week before our first game?

 

Is it not an Andy Dawson select side featuring players who he has played with during his 10 years @ Hull City ?

Maybe an idea to issue vouchers for the Man Utd - Chelsea - Arsenal - Man City and Tottenham PL games to swell the gate ?

 

Got to be careful with that approach,after season ticket holders and away fans there could be more voucher holders than available seats.
Does anyone know how many season tickets have been sold?

We need opposition of a decent standard, not the flat track bullies of the SPL, and we need decent fans, not the pro terrorist anti British vermin who are assocated with soap dodging Sellick .

Wasn't there rumours that it would be a team from Spain or France? Or was that my unstable imagination?

 

It's going to be treated as a normal friendly, because it will probably be a week before the first league game. It'll be first team players (plus Dawson I imagine). There will also be an exhibition match earlier on before the game including some novelty players I think. We haven't had a meeting for ages so I'm a bit rusty on the latest details.

 

NOVELTY PLAYERS ? please dont tell me the likes of Dave Bamber and Ian Hesford are playing ?
Looking forward to it. Being a sunday date/game it should help the gate as well.

 

Dawson said on his Sporttalk interview that it's going to be a foreign team. He said it will be sorted once the fixtures come out so they'll know what date to play the game.

 

I would love to see a team with players like ash and Deano and maybe JJ Ococha and the players that he has played with in a city shirt. As many of the promotion winning team from wembley as possible kind of thing, hell its not about winning or losing its about us turning out and having a good time giving some money to charity and thanking Daws for his great service over 10 years of our most successful period in out history!

Okocha won't happen. We've tried to get him to come to other testimonial events and no one can get hold of him.

 

Still no news on the final pre season match at the KC for Andy Dawsons testimonial game. Surely it should have been sorted by now as he said this a few weeks ago now when on Radio Humberside , that it was due to be finalised by the following weekend against foreign opposition. Anyone know whats happening about it ?
