The other night I sat outside the bar enjoying the warm evening, a beer and the Con. Cup opening game. A game watched by many millions throughout the world where a certain Julio Cesar was playing for Brazil. You will no doubt remember them, one of the top teams in the world. Today I looked at the paper where in tonights Brazil team there was a certain goalkeeper from QPR playing in a world class team with players from clubs like Chelsea, PSV and the rest. All teams from the top leagues, all great players obviously.

Then I remember idiots on here and other QPR sites slagging off Cesar. Cant do this, cant do that, crap, get rid, Green is better, useless.

For me it just shows that there are a lot of big mouthed no nothings on the net. If their expertise was that good they would be PL managers not stupid keyboard warriors. I doubt if anyone on here has ever managed anything more than a juniors club but of course you know best.

It has always been the same. People that actualy went to LR before the net could also be prats. Many years ago there was a huge moron who stood at the LR end whose favourite hate figure was Micky Leach, week in and week out he would scream abuse. Micky scored the winning goal and a little bloke went up to the moron. "you know eff all about football" and with one punch splattered the blokes nose. Claret everywhere and a big cheer. Never saw him again.

When I see that sort of crap posted by people who know nothing about football I can understand why the real experts do not get involved in sites like this. Yes Julio, I am sure you really worry about what people here say when one of the worlds best managers picks you for one of the best teams in the world. (shame it isn't QPR I am describing)

In the meantime I will enjoy seeing a player from the team I have supported for over 60 years being picked by a real expert for a major competition watched by most of the footballing world.

I do not mind opinions but totally uninformed rubbish I can not stand.

Very true. We can express all the opinions we want, some more knowledgeable than others, but none of us are 'experts'...

    Well Espanacol, I will bite.

For large parts of last season Cesar was great, he played well, won us points with great saves etc.

However, towards the end of the season his heart just wasn't in it. As much as it makes you proud and all of us to see the Brazilian keeper come from little old QPR, if he doesn't want to be here, he is better off being elsewhere.

That is my opinion on Cesar. I do not profess to be an expert, I do not aspire to be a Premier League manager or a manager at any level. The body language I seen towards the end of last season convinced me we would be better off without Cesar.

That is just my humble opinion. If it makes you angry, apologies but that's the way I feel about him as a humble fan.

The bottom line is Cesar earned us a number of points with outstanding displays but also cost us points with some underwhelming displays. His best period was in the run of clean sheets in Dec/Jan when he was outstanding and suddenly being linked with several champions league clubs, sadly, the last three months were no better than average at best, as others have said, his heart just wasn't in it and that's where a lot of the criticism has come from.

Football supporters tend to see things in black and white, hero or zero, it's the nature of the beast. This forum is all about opinions whether you agree with them or not...

I am afraid I agree with Finglas here. I stood behind Cesar....I saw the wonderful saves he made in the mid-part of the season. I saluted him with "Hail Cesar", but I too saw the sea-change in his attitude towards the end of the season. After Villa and Wigan his heart left the team...He does not want to play for us. He may be a great player, but he no longer wants to play for us....and that is something that will take a long time to change, if it is at all possible.

We are not criticising his ability as a player...simply his ability to play for us....He no longer believes, if you want to put it in a simpler way

I was privileged to be at Loftus Road to see him in imperious form against Manchester City, he pulled off some fantastic saves against a team with a stunning array of attackers.

However, later in the season his inability to catch the ball, or to even parry the ball away from the goal caused us massive problems. Every shot he blocked was pushed back into the penalty area resulting in total panic among our beleaguered defenders. I’m no fan of Green, but Cesar had become a bigger liability.

Cesar can't be expected to play the roles of goalkeeper and defenders, so he was entitled to the odd mistake.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, whether it be voiced out in the open or not, doesn't make them a 'know it all' or so called 'football expert'.

If Cesar has a great game (which he did for us), I will say he was great. If he has a rubbish game (which he did for us), I will say he was rubbish. You've got to be a complete idiot to actually doubt his goalkeeping ability as a whole, agreed.

Cesar was most likely thinking "why should I try, when no one else is"?

Im a big fan of Ceasar and he's done it at top level consistantly for many years. thats why I was so supprised when he actually came to QPR.
Im not sure what his thinking was but it certainly cant be football based. What did he ever have to gain by joining us? The applause and adulation for keeping a little London club in the prem for a season.? He had far more to lose than gain. I dont understand it?

For many - me included, for the first part of the season he was MOM god knows how many times, and with the terrible players in front of him really kept us in touching distance. If not for him we would have been relegated by Jan.

He did seem to change and care slightly less but maybe that was because he actually realised he was wasting his time. We were never gonna go out and score4 goals against anyone, in fact we were very rarely ever gonna score 1.
We didnt have a midfield that could control the tempo of games
We didnt have defenders who could defend
We did even (entil remy) have a striker that could score.

Maybe the penny dropped that he had been sold a lie. For me he is still a very top keeper & his inclusion in the Brazil squad proves that.

As for us, I think Beth is correct. He doesnt want to be with us soprob best all round if he does go. I for one think it will be a shame and have not had a bad word to say about him. I believe he made a few mistakes but F-me, so would you with those players in front of ya

Anyway, I wish him all the best and say thanks for keeping us somewhere near the rest of the pack..even if we did go down <ok>

Well, my thoughts are that any negative blurb on Ceaser was more so to do with his attitude as opposed to his ability as a player.
I'm thinking that his mind was not always focus solely on Queens Park Rangers and towards the end of the season, he struck me as having his mind everywhere else but on his job and club.

As a mad passionate QPR fan, I took offence to his lack of purpose for our team .................... for which I think I am at liberty to do.

He will struggle against physical attacks because he daren't risk hurting himself. He has more than once cried off during tough games. Obviously he is talented but he had no interest in rolling his sleeves up and risking a whack against Gabby ****ing Agbonlahor so what chance do we have in a league where every opposition side will make a point of roughing him up? He's cowardly, quite frankly, and either can't or won't communicate with the defence.

He carried an injury for a few games and never came back as the same keeper, although it was interesting to note that the "experts" at our club thought he was better injured than Green was fit. I don't know what they see on the the training ground but obviously it re-enforced their beliefs.

Like you Espanacol, I'm proud to see a QPR player at the top level but I also don't feel he had the heart to put his body on the line for us which a keeper needs to.

Cesar wasnt being tested a lot and when he was, he wasnt holding the ball. Even the commentators noted it.

He started off well and got worse and worse here and eventually played down to Greens level.

I can't help but feel that, irrespective of what anyone thinks of him, his inclusion in the Brazil squad doesn't define him as a top keeper. How does the quality of the Brazilian midfield in anyway influence the quality of who they have in goal? All it means is that he's better than a the other Brazilian goalkeepers there were to choose from, both of who play in the Brazilian league. I also don't understand the argument that he is a quality goalkeeper who might not have not been at his best because he wasn't that bothered. Aren't the desire to win and passion for the club integral to the quality of any player? Without them it doesn't matter how well you catch a ball in training.

A view from outside your club - Cesar appeared to do well for you in a number of games - towards the end maybe he knew he was on his way?

Do you think Green got treated shabbily at the start of the season - I bet he did not know you were signing another keeper when he signed his deal?

All the best next season - I like QPR as a club (shame our relegation to League 1 means we can't play you) and hope you bounce back
