I think we've got the worst opening day record of all the teams in the PL. SOUTHAMPTON: Played 14, Won 1, Lost 7, Drawn 6, Win % 7
I think we'll struggle to get anything from the opening game. The following 3 games are winnable though.
After last season, I realise any result is possible. I don't think there is any game that we haven't a chance in, but we may drop points where we don't expect it. Can get to a small selection of games, including Everton and Liverpool again. Glad the start isn't as hard a last time...so depressing last season (even though we played well in some games).
Turns out we have the easiest opening fixtures in the league http://www.whoscored.com/Blog/dxvha...-The-Premier-League-Opening-Fixtures-Analysed
There simply must be something wrong with the list as published on the OS as it's full of games that kick off on Saturday afternoon at 3. Shurely shome mishtake? Vin
Yeah, our opening fixtures are the easier games and if we don't pick up many points there that'll be a bit worrying. That nine game run is horrible, but we finish the season OK. We can beat WBA - they're poor and inconsistent.
WBA away will be tough as balls, make no mistake. Perhaps the only central midfield that outshone ours last season.
Thinking about this a bit back to front, there's a lot of pressure to pick up a lot of points during this opening spell of games with the potential of the Christmas period to provide a fairly barren haul.
First half brilliant, second half average. In both games we were ****. Won 2 and drew 2 of their last 11 games. Most importantly, they won't have Lukaku.
http://www.whoscored.com/Blog/dxvha...-The-Premier-League-Opening-Fixtures-Analysed Apologies if this has already been posted here already, but a very interesting read indeed!
Be careful about using the word easy, same fixtures last season we only picked up two pts. west brom away lost, Sunderland home lost, Norwich away drew, west ham home draw, Liverpool away lost and palace at home you could sub with Wigan or qpr both lost. We have no divine right to beat these teams. Let's hope for a good pre season and we hit the ground running
Good point, edited. If, like some people on here, think we'll somehow get in the top 8 then we should be expecting a lot more than 2 points from those games.
Click this link and it will put the Saints fixtures into your phone calendar and will update when the times change for TV and stuff. webcal://www1.skysports.com/calendars/football/fixtures/teams/southampton This works on the iPhone, should work on other devices .......
