So long big fella, BR never wanted you and I cant say I blame him for the type of game he wants. My best memory of him is turning the twat that is John Terry inside out in the FA cup when he came on. Also a couple of thunderbolt goals that he scored

My worst would be seeing him (on more than one occasion!) tripping over your feet while running into the box<doh>

Do you think he'd be a key player for us by now had KK got given one more season?

Overall im glad hes going actually to free up wages and get us some cash

Someone said over on JA that we were paying him £2 mill to not hand in a transfer request. I asked how he knew this and why we'd do it, but didnt get a proper response as usual

    Anyone know anything on this?
Someone said that if he didnt hand in a request he'd get loyalty bonuses but we wouldnt pay him to not hand in a request to then pay him a loyalty bonus <doh>

If he hands in a request it makes no difference to us does it? we only accept what we're happy with either way

I think I heard something like because he's got loyalty payments written into his contract, every year he sees out, he gets a bonus payment. As he hasn't asked for a transfer he is entitled to have those payments paid up if we sell him.

  3. Andy doesn't want to leave, he's being forced out and therefore he is entitled to severance pay which will include any loyalty payments that are due over the course of the contract.

Good luck - all this isn't his fault, he was forced out of newkie for their pay day and now LFC for reasons he could never have envisaged when he joined.

To be fair he is a promising young English forward who needs a chance at the right club now (just like Sturridge)

I'm sure his massive bank account will see him through his trauma

I mean leaving the best club in the world will be difficult for him though.

Well he hasn't put in a transfer request so the point is valid. As far as his contract is concerned it's up to us to honour whatever crazy conditions we put in there in the first place.

Good luck to him, we'd have been much better off with him around this year than the forward we brought in but not a lot we can do about that now. An shambles from start to finish so let's just get it over with now...but I bet he scores against us on a regular basis wherever he ends up.

    Good Luck Andy.

Bad timing etc, he'll go on to be a better player at a team built for him rather than shoehorned in as a "plan b" the manager simply doesn't believe in.

I have no doubt he'll score a bucket full.

As for pay. He deserves every penny. Not his fault we did one of the worst deals in modern football history.

He has the attributed to be a very good forward, but only a specific type of forward. Saw when he scored from a corner for West Ham when he got a run on a defender and the power he got on the header made it unstopable. He's awesome in the air when the ball is hung up in the air and he gets a run on the defender, he's pretty much impossible to stop. He also has a strong shot on his left foot, however he doesn't have much composure which is why he's better in those snap shots (like against City) than when he has plenty of time on the ball to make a decision.

He'll be a decent striker and probably won't peak for another 4 or 5 years. He'll probably get West Ham 10-15 goals a season if he manages to stay fit.

Proves Brendan isn't as pragmatic or flexible as Kenny. I thought Kenny (in both his spells) played some good stuff as manager, with pass-and-move at the heart of things, but like all good mangers he wasn't averse to mix things if the occassion demanded. Seeing how we were walked all over by Oldham, I'm not sure Brendan appreciates the need of a plan B.

    Good luck Andy.

Whenever I watched him play it always reminded me of a valiant steed galloping through an endless meadow. Seriously though good luck to him, will never forget his first goal for us!

  17. No, you're right, Andy wants to go and BR is gutted that he can't build a team around the lad <doh>

Andy may not be overly bothered about leaving but its not really his choice is it? BR clearly doesn't want him and if I was in that position, I'd expect my loyalty payments to be honoured too.

Not sure why I got this? <laugh>

Indeed and not just the Oldham game either...Anyhooo...he'll be gone so it's now up to Rodgers to address those sorts of issues his way. Either prove we don't need a variety of options as his tactics suit different situations or prove he can adjust his squad to breakdown the types of team we failed to last season.
