SUNDERLAND continue to be linked with a host of foreign players on the back of bringing in four Bosman signings from the continent.

Valentin Roberge, Cabral, El Hadji Ba and Modibo Diakite will all be added to Sunderland’s squad next month when contracts at their current clubs end.

And there is no shortage of overseas players that Sunderland – with new director of football Roberto De Fanti to the fore – continue to be linked with.

Argentine left-back Lucas Orban and Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez have already been mentioned as possible signings, but getting them in could prove tricky and Sunderland continue to look elsewhere.

Palermo striker Abel Hernandez has attracted the interest of several Italian clubs, as well as Sunderland.

But the club’s president, Maurizio Zamparini, is keen to hold on to the 22-year-old.

“In our attack next season will be Abel Hernadez,” said Zamparini.

“This will be a kick in the backside for former coaches that didn’t play him.”

Talks are still ongoing over the Orban situation but there is speculation that Belarus utility player Maksim Bordachev and Le Havre’s Benjamin Mendy are also options on the Wearsiders’ shopping list.

Bordachev, 26, plays for Bate Borisov and is a full international while French Under-19 international left-back Mendy is rumoured to be interesting Sunderland and Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Sunderland continue to be linked with Tottenham Hotspur’s veteran midfielder Scott Parker, who played alongside Black Cats manager Paolo Di Canio at Charlton around a decade ago.

But such a move would seem unlikely, not least for the ex-Newcastle and England man’s £70,000-a-week wages and the fact he was injury-prone for most of last season.

A more likely destination for the Londoner, who appears to be surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane, is Queens Park Rangers.

Loftus Road boss Harry Redknapp signed him for Spurs and he remains a huge fan of the player, for whom the challenge of getting QPR straight back into the Premier League might appeal.

According to the Daily Mirror Hull City boss Steve Bruce is ready to go back to Sunderland for right back Phil Bardsley and rescue him from his row with Paolo di Canio.

Bardsley joined Sunderland in 2008 making over 167 Appearances for Sunderland scoring 7 goals

Sunderland won't stand in Bardsley's way should Hull come knocking.

The 27-Year-old was pictured lying on the floor covered in £50 notes late on the night Sunderland’s place in next season’s Premier League was confirmed, Arsenal beat Wigan 4-1

Bardsley had anyway been a bit-part player last season after never recovering from missing the whole of pre-season through injury. Despite being the club’s only specialist right-back he started just 11 league matches, often watching from the bench as midfielder Craig Gardner filled in for him. Di Canio will hardly have been enamoured by the fact both defenders have appealed against their fines. Bardsley was docked two weeks’ wages, £60,000.

Sundeland have already signed Modibo Diakite on a Bosman, Di Canio is now eyeing his former Lazio teammate Luis Pedro Cavanda as Phil Bardsley’s replacement.

Cavanda is a Belgian Under 21 international of Angolan descent who made his Lazio debut in 2009 but only really established himself in the first team last season, 22-Year-old has made 29 apperances for Lazio since joining them in 2007 from Standard Liège

Lazio are believed to value the youngster around the £4million mark but Sunderland would offer little more than half that sum.

Di Canio is keen to play with genuinely attacking full-backs at Sunderland next season and Cavanda fits that bill far more than anyone the Black Cats currently have on their books.

Don't they usually go abroad for a final pay day? If we got parker I'd want a 1 year deal on no more than 20k a week.

'Hernandez is expected to agree with Sunderland in the coming days.

    @SAFCsource
The sale of Matteo Ardemgani from Atalanta to Palermo depends on the sale of Hernandez to Sunderland.
