The Liverpool striker endured a difficult 2012-13 because of a long-term shoulder injury but his goal in the 78th minute against Holland in Israel meant his hard work in returning from injury paid off. The 22-year-old received the ball inside the box, took a superb touch past his marker and finished clinically beyond the goalkeeper before leading wild celebrations on the touchline. Awesome first touch and a cool finish. Hopefully scored in the final to get his confidence up going into the new year. Seem to forget that he's only 21/22? If he stays clear of injury think he could get 10+ in the league this year.
Said for ages that Borini will come good. He's showed alot of promise, I don't know why people are so hard on him when he only played 7 games or so! Good on you, Fab. Keep on improving.
Borini is a very frustrating player. He often does all the hard work and gets into good positions and moves well off the ball then hits the woodwork or makes the wrong decision when shooting; to much power when he should slot it in or tries to pass it past the keeper when he should stick his boot through the ball. Once he sorts out the final decision making aspect of his game, which may come with maturity, he could be a useful striker.
Good movement away from the defender in the box and a cool finish. Borini will do ok for us given the chances.
He's barely played for us though, how can he 'often' make the wrong decision if he's barely had any decent run in the first team? Anyone makes bad decisions when they're inconsistantly playing.
haven't made my mind up on Borini as he hasn't had much playing time. imagine the confidence it would give him if he gets the winner in the final, don't see it, but would be great for us going into next season if he manages it somehow, but beating Spain is going to be hard.
look if he can actually make contact with the ball or even get it on target more i'll be happy... he's ok at getting in there in the right position but the issue for me is his finishing thus far has been awful. He's got to do two things... work for his chance then take it by scoring regularly.
That is a brilliant goal! The movement, the first touch, and the cool finish - I don't really associate with Borini with that type of finish, I expect him to just put his laces through it but it's nice to see that it's in his locker. Think he is a good player to have in the squad who will only improve. In terms of his decision making and intelligence, it will get better with experience
well in fairness he couldn't get much worse. the efforts he made when he was fit were very much in my mind a guy trying too hard to impress and just messing up totally.. A bit of calmness in front of goal would go a long way al right but i don't see him ever being the guy we were told by rodgers he was.
I've been reluctant to write him off all season. The only run of games he got was at the start of last season, against tough opposition and with a new system/manager/lack of match game time.
Too many clubs in such a short time to warrant much belief that he's anything more than a glass budgie, with no signs of any progress. What was hilarious was hearing that TalkSport muppet, Mark Saggers, suggest that the problem with the England U21s was that they can't call on the quality of the likes of...he paused briefly, realising what he was about to say but too late to stop himself in full muppet flight...Fabio Borini. Because obviously he's been better for us than Jordan Henderson this year.
A fairly harsh judgement considering Fabio suffered a broken foot on international duty, only to be followed by a shoulder dislocation on his return. I agree he will never be a 25 goals per season forward but if he can get into double figures next season that may be a worthwhile contribution to the team. I would advise patience,he's only played a handful of games.
