Greetings one and all. Amid all the celebration and jubilation surrounding this past Sundays events in Manchester, it has come to Rowdys attention that all the plaudits keep going to the same old faces, CMS, Daddyâs little soldier and obviously Mr Tarmac being the 3 biggest culprits of hogging the limelight. Not that Rowdy has much time for old sayings, but there is certainly element of truth in the old saying âthere is no I in teamâ and at 91 of the 92 english league clubs this is clearly evident. Despite what rowdy said in the paragraph above, at Peterborough I feel there is a man that is bigger than the club, a man who is such a distinguished figure in the game, a man that if you cut him open you would see the colour of Peterborough blue running through his veins, a man who does more for your club in an hour than most will do in a lifetime. Not that this manâs efforts get appreciated or even acknowledged by the ragtag bunch that makes up the Peterborough fans, in fact for some ludicrous reason he is often seen as a figure of ridicule within the stands, yes, he may not be the most academically intelligent and he be a touch on the portly side, but he arrived long before the likes of Mr Tarmac, CMS and Daddyâs little soldier and no doubt will still be here long after. During this manâs tenure at the club, it has been a mix of dizzying highs, terrifying lows and all that in-between, but he has stuck with it and not once aired his dirty laundry in public. When the subject of legends of Peterborough United is being discussed there are a few notable names that always get a mention such as Terry Bly, Chris Turner and Noel Cantwell, but as the dust begins to settle on your clubs finest hour, please join the Rowdy in acknowledging the immense, herculean effort and sacrifice that this man has devoted to your club. Obviously any Peterborough fan worth their salt has already worked out the individual that the rowdy has described and any true fan will have absolutely no hesitation in joining the rowdy as he pays tribute to everything he has done. Enough of the talking, without further ado please join me in a saying a long overdue thank you to this man, and before you ask I have already contacted the club and demanded that the new away end is named after him, so please join the rowdy in thanking, acknowledging and paying tribute to the one and only Derek Poole. R and P.
