DC has referred to what people were saying about him: biased towards Red Bull or against Lewis, for example; I liked how he just said that stuff straight out.
I wonder if they have a look at here and other splinter forums? .....If so they are very welcome to chat
Here's the 'final word' on 606 from Ben Gallop (Who's he? Exactly!). http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/sporteditors/2011/05/the_closure_of_606.html
Originally BBC606 was a superb concept, ruined by political correctness and moderation, a bit like Great Britain.
I guess it was ruined by the users not getting along. Its quite pathetic really that some people get anti on a web forum. Some of the WUMS were funny and worth reading.
But there are spates of that here (and on any forum). The difference is that the moderation here is more tolerant and members find their place in relation to each other. For me, moderation was the only problem with 606. The moderators just didn't know how to do the job.
the worst was football - people are SO ignorant and vicious. At least F1 is not so tribal in the following.
well like here and many other forums me and the other mods are accessable. We post on here and you guys get a picture of our personality I guess which makes it more community based and friendly. BBC 606 mods on the other hand were like mystery dungeon keepers. Nobody knew them and they didnt give much feeling to how they deal with users. So the users didnt feel bad about breaking morals and rebeling I guess. Any philosophers in the house?
'How many roads must a man walk down before he realises that he should have driven?' Is that philosophical enough?
I agree absolutely. There was a total lack of accountability from the BBC mods, not to mention a lack of consistency. These things undermined the credibility of the forum: the moderation was very often unfair, heavy-handed, humourless and offered members no real right to reply. As I told them on one occasion, they had something of the Stasi
Well, perhap's, but we all have to learn how to behave in public including WUM and Trolls, one can ignore or react to WUMs or Trolls, its better to educate them by example and not get involved in the debacle. Far worse for me, was the over moderation applied to BBC606, I am a highly opionated individual and like to clearly express my point of view but suffered heavily from post's and articles being deleted by the moderators, so I left, I used to write tonge in cheek wind up articles in reference to Schumacher under the guise of Mr Rusty and also Mosely under Marge but they always got removed. Here I expect the same articles would remain up and be argued through to the point of exhaustion, which is how it should be IMHO. This Not606 is brilliant, have you ventured outside the safety of the F1 section, because I have and found some very lively threads going on in the General section, these would definitely enlighten the BBC moderators, not to everyones taste but its still a free country, is'nt it ?
