2kgs is a lot of weight, you would have to eat and drink a crazy amount to put that much on in a few weeks if your a pro athlete.

Put it this way I did a months touring in America, hardly trained and ate a lot of america fast food as well as a healthy rider every night. I only weigh 12.5 stone and put on about 2kgs in that time so a pro athlete who has a choice what they eat should be fine.

They are being paid to be in shape.

Paid a hell of a lot of money.

They should be keeping themselves in shape over the summer anyways, even if its just a light jog every now and again.Took me about a month to put on 2 kgs and I'm in now way a pro athlete. They need to be looking after themselves.

Smart move from PDC if you ask me

Not disagreeing that they should stay fit just saying should have been kept in the club and not out in public. Think that Di Canio has a Totalitarian style of management which is wrong if my manager managed me like that I wouldn't be happy and would start looking for another job and it would be harder to recruit.

Don't have a problem with this 2kg is a lot of weight for a normal active bloke who keeps himself moderately fit to gain. For a pro athlete which these lads are it should be a doddle to keep their weight down.
This is all about discipline lads something we've been lacking over the last few years and, if the players don't like it they know where the door is. We also don't know if this is PDC saying this now or more than likely PDC saying what he told the players before they left on their jollies.

`Off you go, enjoy yourselves but don`t come back fat`

    Not unreasonable imo.

About time we had some discipline in the club. If SAF had said this in the last 20odd years at Man U no one would have batted an eyelid!

SAF probably has said this and more but he kept it private and not told the media. Di Canio is a Fascist Bully Boy who wants all the attention without any of the hard work!.

Fair point on the first bit. Harsh and jury's still out on the second.

Why is this in the media? I'm going to assume that it's just lies because nobody worth their salt would allow this information into the public domain.

If Di Canio has told this to the media he's got no chance of succeeding, you just can't buy a squad of players who will take that **** AND be successful on the pitch, no way in hell. I'm not talking about the fine itself by the way, but the fact that their dirty duds are being hung out by your manager for everyone to laugh at, the iron fist just will not work in this era of egomaniac mega rich footballers.

I do think it's lies though, it just has to be! Surely?
