I don't know if anyone on here reads 'Pub Mirror' - Hull and East Riding CAMRA's magazine? Issue 84 (Summer) has this article: Follow The Tigers on the Amber Trail CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TIGERS ON THEIR SUCCESSFUL 2012/13 CAMPAIGN AND PROMOTION TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE This column is enjoying the summer break whilst looking at the new venues that City will be going to next season. Hull of course are the only Yorkshire team in the Premier League so will be flying the flag not only for Hull but the whole of Yorkshire, doesn't it make you feel proud? So who is the local derby against? Is it Sunderland or Manchester United? We all wait with baited breath for the release of the 2013/14 fixtures and those dream games against the cream of English football, to once again see the likes of Rooney, Van Persie, Bale(??), Yaya Toure and the rest at the KC. The increase in revenue that these teams generate with the large band of support that follow some of them will, we hope, see its way into the local pubs/clubs and businesses. We will once again seek to find the away-friendly pubs in the towns and cities, so you can enjoy the many real ales in these places. Maybe a nice pint of Marble Summer Ale 4.5% ABV in Manchester or perhaps Woodforde's Wherry Bitter (ABV 3.8%) from Norwich? I am sure there will be many new beers to try. Let's all raise a glass to Steve Bruce and the lads, and here's hoping for an enjoyable new season and Hull City once again cementing themselves in the top flight of English football.
I've just noticed that the Yorkshire Brewing Company (of the Old Fruit Market, Hull) brews a beer called Tyger Tyger (3.6% ABV). How about the SMC getting that in for sale at the KC? (Or is it there already?)
The Amex (Brighton) has a great idea themed beers in the away end. Everards Tiger from a keg. With the added attraction of staying open for an hour after the game.
I like the idea at the Amex but when beer travels it's never the same. I hate the Old Peculiar that gets served down here despite it being my favourite beer. I stick to the Harvey's at the Amex.
I was in York yesterday and drank a few pints of Yorkshire Guzzler. Think it was only 3.8% but a tasty drop. Some good pubs there, but pricey like.
Wold Top do make some great beers but at Stockport beer festival a couple of weeks ago it was the Ilkley Brewery's beers I liked the best. Particularly the 'Ilkley Summer'!
