Rowe would be a good player for you, proved his worth in the Championship last season, and he is young. We are only taking a one season sabbatical and will return next season, I also have a feeling that it could all come together for yourselves next season too, let's hope so.
I don't know what makes Barry Fry think that saying "you can't afford him" and "he wants to move to you" in the same sentence is going to get the club to pay the asking price. As soon as a player wants out their transfer fee drops, everybody knows that.
The logic is all so simple,..if we don't sell for our valuation..he stays and helps us get promoted and leaves at the end of his contract, as did Boyd, in the mean time he has to perform to attract prospective employers, which I have no doubt he would do, our priority is promotion so none of our players will go unless it's at our price, the team that came down is good enough to come straight back up again, they are very young and will only get better. Having said that, Rowe is far from irreplaceable. and always take what Bazza says with a pinch of salt, he is very good at his job.
Except he doesn't have to perform. He's a player and will always get another opportunity somewhere. Besides they often don't think rationally. Keeping an unhappy player is a big risk.
DMD, to all intents and purposes Papa Smurf ceased to have any meangful input to all things Leeds as of the end of last season. Officially, however, I believe he formally moves from Chairman, uberruler, & saviour of the planet to President & who the phuk cares as of 1 July.
But bates having spoken to Fry is the only believable part of this story. If bates is in contact with other clubs and agents about transfers, while he will be given a strategy to go with his incompetence can count as meaningful input
Why is that the only believable part of the story? Why are you just picking out what you want (in this case your negativity is) to believe? If some of it is bullshit then most of it probably is. My bet is that we probably contacted em either in January or as McDermott was appointed so he could get an idea of who he wanted which is why Bates was in contact (if he was at all). Fry is a genuine nobhead and should be treated as such, he's just trying to spark awareness for his player.
