I've always had the impression that he wasn't happy ,either with himself us or the weather .I've met him a couple of times and I've yet to see him smile, but I believe the best is yet to come playing wise

Pablo Hernandez has reflected on a special season at Swansea City, and thanked the Jack Army for cheering them to glory.
The Swans capped arguably the most successful season in the club’s 100-year history following a ninth-place finish in the Barclays Premier League along with winning their first major trophy via the Capital One Cup.
And Hernandez, who became the club’s record transfer signing following a £5.55million move from Valencia last summer, has highlighted the incredible backing the squad has received throughout the campaign.
“It has been a special season. In Spain, I got to a final with Getafe but lost,” said the Spanish international.
“Here at Swansea, in my first season, we got to Wembley and won the Capital One Cup for the first time in the club’s history.
“It was a special moment. But this title, this season – it’s not only because the team plays good football, because the fans are 20 or 30 per cent responsible for it.
“The team wouldn’t be the same without this group of fans. They are incredible both home and away.”
The Swans are now looking forward to a European adventure – something Hernandez is well versed in from his time at Valencia.
And he feels the club will benefit massively from the experience of the Europa League next season.
The 28-year-old also reflected on his first season in English football, insisting he has found a club which he can fully express himself.
“The Europa League will be a nice experience for the team, the fans and the club,” he said. “Before I moved here, I played in Europe for the last four years with Valencia.
“The atmosphere in European games is very special. I think we will really enjoy this competition.”
He added: “For the way I want to play, this is the perfect team for me.
“When I talked to Michael Laudrup, he told me that Swansea have a very good project in place.
“My last year at Valencia wasn’t good for me, and I needed a new challenge.
“Then Swansea wanted to sign me, and I had a good feeling about the club. I quickly realised this is a family club, and I like that.
“And I think everyone can look back at this season and feel so proud with what we have all achieved. That’s not just the players, I also mean the fans, the staff and everyone connected to the club.”

Maybe it took him a little longer than he expected to adjust to life over here. Reading those quotes, it looks like he has settled down now. Hopefully he can become more consistent for us next season as he has shown flashes of real quality this year.

A class player who will be a huge asset for us when he finds consistent form. Has a few detractors on here but when you check out his stats, more than a bit unfair. Take a look at Max Hicks' excellent Swans blog on ESPN where there is some surprising analysis of the Swans' players.

Anyone who cant see the talent in this boy needs their head seeing too !! inconsistent yes but he cost £5m quid not £25m !!

The longer he stays the better he will get, same with Laudrups others signings, it has been said that Pablo has struggled to settle to life in Wales, hopefully he can have a nice break and feel ready to go again at 100%, I feel if he was given more love by the terraces he would lift himself a little bit more, he is the only real create player that can do something out of nothing. Hope he has a stormer next season <ok>

I rate him. He does misplace passes etc sometimes but the main reason is because he always looks to play the dangerous ball. He loves to attack and run at defenders. I would like to see him out wide right a bit more as his crossing is better than his shooting.
Pablo has the makings of a very very good player indeed.

I will be honest, I always sit waiting for the teamsheet, and if Pablo is chosen, I think fantastic, if he is not chosen, I feel we are taking a risk. Yes he has had some bad performances, but as has been mentioned in this topic, he is one of, if not the only player in our team that is willing to risk a pass to create something. He has fantastic vision, granted the final ball doesn't always make it, but he doesn't even need to look half the time to know where his team mate are. Waht is frustratin, is his misplaced passes that are simple passes, but that could be down to nerves, as I cringe when the crowd get on his back, to me he is a confidence player, give him confidence and he will shine, get on his back, and he will still try, but make more mistakes. And that again is my favourite thing about him, when Dyer has an off day, you never see him, he stops trying, and just paces around, Pablo doesn't, he keeps at it. Even with a somewhat below par season, he is fast becoming my favourite player here at the club.

Hope you guys are right - Steve He missed 10 5 yard passes in one game - as I've said before it's the disruption to the other players I dislike the most
NJ where should I make an appointment for my head seeing to!
there's a world of difference between potential and delivery.
Maybe this upcoming season he will deliver and I can proudly post "I told you so" - oops that's Dai not me1:emoticon-0102-bigsm

I rate him highly, always picked him in the first XI on match threads etc.

When there were rumours about his happiness I suspected he might be off this summer but this quote is very encouraging indeed.

He's making a determined effort to try and make this work, as he does on the pitch.

Let's hope a full pre-season sees him hit the ground running.

Against Spurs I would have taken him off and played with 10 men - he was that bad. On his day he is our true class player. Just needs to produce it more often.<ok>

The nearest mental hospital mate <ok>

Can I ask what you expect for £5m pounds ? Pablo has been great overall, for sure he had his **** games, but it was because he was trying too hard as opposed to not trying hard enough.

If you compare his input into last season he was at the same level as Dyer and Routs and his end product was very often a lot better . £5 m quid buy you nothing special in the prem league unless you get a lucky dip like Michu .

Many people have over expectation on certain players,im not sure why that is but Pablo is a prime target. If your expecting a £5m pound player to take the prem league by storm then you will be waiting a while, generally you get what you pay for,if even that ! shame for him he got injured for 6 weeks as before that he was flying!! to the point where most people on this board were spunking over his play, not every player will be a hit straight away, some take longer than others and some never get there but I think Pablo is the only player we have that can actually create something clever and not paint by numbers like a lot of our players do, a shame you cant see that but what ever floats your boat I guess <ok>

NJ I want to see it - nothing would make me happier - but as I said - potential and capable of etc are not worth a bag of onions - unless they turn into delivery - which they didn't last season. As for Routs and Dyer - they were value for money because they were not our record signings.

You never answered my question. What do you expect to get for £5m ??

I saw every single game last season with about 5/6 of them at the liberty or away from home and I can safely say that Pablo has the one of the best football brains at the club and very often did turn potential into capable !!

If he was sublime every week he wouldn't be playing for the Swans !! you talk about £5m quid like its a lot of money, it is absolutely chicken feed in this league so I think your expectations are a bit unrealistic TBH.
I understand that you want him to do well, I take that as given, but there are a lot of people who don't seem to realise that us spending £5m pounds on a player is never going to garentee us anything, especially world class performances every week !!

When he was poor he was poor, but that's what you get at a lower level premier league team, the big difference is that he tried to do the right thing even when playing ****,which takes alot of bollocks !! if he was consistant he would be on his way to a bigger team.

Why our own fans don't always see this is a bit beyond me,maybe we have been a bit spoiled over recent years but when we reflect over the whole season Pablo IMO has been a success <ok>

I rate Pablo - OK, he can misplace some passes, but he is always looking for the killer pass - sometimes it doesn't work, but when it does it can unlock defences! Think he will come into his own next season - he is a class player and, although he hasn't been consistent this year he has shown enough quality to make me excited about what he may achieve next. IMO we haven't seen the best of him yet.

NJ I realise that not all commentators have the knowledge you and I have but the fact that different ones said the same thing in different games re-assured me I wasn't seeing things - I know that you don't need that reassurance!

Problem we have is that sometimes players take a while to shine..for whatever reason. Michu has been a rare exception IMO and this has perhaps put a bit of added pressure elsewhere.

Im sure Pablo tries his best, some of his passing has been a bit dodgy, indeed some of his first touches when he started playing made me think that he was terrible, but when he settled down a bit and got a couple of goals we saw how good he can be, in fact he was the first name on the team sheet up until he got an injury which seemed to kill all his momentum for some reason.

We never know if a player is going to work out or not, time will tell, but there is no doubt in my mind that if we had a world class striker up front instead of DG or Michu then pablos speed of thought and eye for a pass would have been a lot more noticeable . :)
