Another website that uopdates all pre-season fixtures for PL clubs. www.gettyfooty.com/2013/05/premier-league-pre-season-fixtures-2013html
We were chosen for it about half way through the 2008/2009 season if I remember rightly? And then the trip was actually in the pre season of the next season. If I remember correctly we were wanted for it because they wanted 3 teams from the Premier League, a top team, a team just above mid table, and a side down the other end of the table.
I'm pretty certain we got picked for that tournament by being in 6th place at a certain date in November/December. It was as arbitrary as that.
I am hoping that we can do 2014 pre-season in the USA. How about after North Ferriby and Winterton we can play 5 games over the pond.? 1)LA Galaxy 2)Colorado 3)Houston 4)Chicago 5)New York Bulls. Would make a great trip and a complete change from the usual games.
I'd rather we play a tour in Africa/South America. I know it's warmer and all that bollocks, but an African/South American sides attacking is so fast paced, it'd alert our defenders to similar scenarios that we would face against the likes of Chelsea's Oscar/Hazard/Mata combination, Manchester United's Kagawa/Van Persie/Valencia/Nani etc, Arsenal's Gervinho/Podolski/Walcott etc. You get the picture. I always thought that pre Season matches should be beneficial in other ways than just fitness. Getting ready for particular playing styles defensively and offensively should be important.
but i need an excuse to go to the states, you don't want my own experience of the usa is a sign post for new york at lands end do you>
For those looking at early July pre-season for football games this thread has many fixtures for the lower league clubs. www.footballprogrammecentre.co.uk/f...&start/=0sid=e17ecc9c9fd24edf2805a6387d1b6d55 many listed on that site.
More games added for those who can travel. For those in need of a football fix from early July check out this site www.sportinglife.com/football/fixtures
Question. Is Hull City's away pre-season game @ Birmingham on saturday 27th july any thing to do with any deal for Curtis Davies ? The Peterboro game 2 days later was a part of the Boyd transfer so its a valid question to ask.
We have 2 on the weekends of 3/august and 10th august. The later one is Andy Dawsons Testimonial match.
So the fixtures are out on Wednesday and I really hope we get a couple of "BIG" teams for the first few matches. I think that's the best time to get at them. Man Utd, Everton, new managers and Liverpool who are inconsistent and then Villa who also may still be unsettled.
