Late 70s - late 80s: punk, anarcho punk, hardcore punk, oi!, gothic, psychobilly, indie/c86, industrial, acid house.
Good pop music too: Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Frankie GTH, early U2, REM, Blondie, Jam to name a few.

I think most people's favourite era of music coincides with their formative years and their first perception and realisation of music.

The 70's are my favourite. We had the likes of Bowie and Bolan and then punk and New Wave and the late 70's were awash with good music. As someone said there is rubbish to be found in all decades.

 

Weren't the Spice Girls the biggest band in the world at one time?

And the Bay City Rollers FFS!

 

Oh and I forgot to mention probably the best pop band there has ever been - Abba.
