Whats the point in having him here, paying his £70k a week and not playing him, that's just madness.
Two things, he will probably then accept leaving with no payoff and its a warning to others we wont be messed around. Of course we could give him his money and then have Bosingwa and others do exactly the same thing and then attract other mercenaries to the club. Madness to me is paying £3.5m for him to bugger off telling everyone we are a soft touch.
He's better than most of our useless bloody midfielders and he's played in a Championship-winning team, keep him and he might just surprise us...
He's entitled to to the money, TF agreed the contract, he should either pay him off or make him stay and see it out. you could argue whats £3.5 m in the scheme of things when we have wasted many £m on the rest of these morons, at least Barton is a player not like some that have worn the hoops lately.
The best option is to force him to leave without a pay off, hes in love with the south of france so tell him he can go for free or spend the next 2 years being unhappy in london.
Contract is a two way deal, most of ours, including this one, only seem to be going one way. The only thing we seem to be getting in return is HASSLE!
No way should the club pay him, if he wishes to leave let him put in a transfer request (if no one is prepared to take him off our hand's then let him rot in the reserves) after all that the club (and the fans) have given him, should he not show some loyalty to them or is he not man enough to play in the championship?
Definitely dont pay him off. As has been said make him sit in the reserves and rot out until he is 34/35 and wasted two years of his playing career. That will either change his mind or ruin him as a player.
I think the best thing would be just to send him out on loan again. We can't have his toxic personality round the Club.
TF has said he wont subsidise any player and no club will play 60k a week to loan him so loaning is not an option. He wouldnt train with the squad anyway.
but part of the problem last season was we had people around who weren't training with the squad which led to rifts within the team. Best to keep Barton well away in my opinion. And besides, if a loan was the best option - particularly if the manager didn't Barton around - then TF might be a bit more flexible in his decision making. After all, it would be the cheaper option in the end.
I didn't realise you were that vindictive mate. My preference would be that he was no longer associated with our club but agree that we should not pay him off. Like others, I'm sure that this is all posturing and negotiating.
