Lucky bastard, I've got a full eight and half hours to go and rush hour traffic to deal with.

I'm surprised that old Dave hasn't been on here yet telling us a story about his days as a young lad back in 1862!

It was a Sunday and I was drinking in my local in Amsterdam, Susie's Saloon (opposite the Greenhouse for those who know :emoticon-0105-wink:)
Was having some beers with some mates and these two dutchies who were in there having a drink before they went to watch Ajax versus PSV in the Johan Cruijff Shield (equivalent of Charity Shield). They said they were waiting for their other mate to turn up and then they were going to the ArenA.

Time went by and we all had a few beers and some smoke and their friend still hadn't turned up. They called him to see what was up and he said he wasn't going. They had an extra ticket and out of the blue they asked if I wanted to go to the match. I said yes and we all went to the tram and headed down to Heineken Plein for some more beers.

Instead of going to the normal pubs outside the stadium we went round the back to the Ajax clubhouse where all the Ultras and diehards drink. A small bar on one of the training pitches full of Ajax faithful. I have to admit I felt a bit out of place as I didn't know these lads for **** and suddenly I found myself in a bar with the Ultras. Luckily I can speak Dutch and managed to hold my own and it was a good laugh to be honest but I did worry for a minute that I was being set up.

We went into the ArenA and watched a good match between Ajax and PSV which Ajax won 2-1 with a late goal from Ryan Babel. After the match we grabbed another beer and headed for the tram. I got off at my stop and thanked the two Dutch boys for what was a great night. I'd never met these two before and they never came into Susie's again.

It was a bizarre ride and one that I won't forget, hanging out with two lads I didn't know and experiencing a cup win with the locals.

It was '81, tickets on sale at Portman Rd for the eufa cup final, and it was an all night queuing job for us who wanted to make sure of our tickets...me and about six or seven mates joined the queue about midnight, bunking off next days school, but to while away the early hours we brought a football with us, leaving one of us in the queue while the rest of us had a kickabout...

Long story short, we somehow came across a turnstile (in retrospect, not very well painted), that was unlocked and open, and the six of us found ourselves inside the ground with a football, so yeah, that night there we were, on the hallowed turf of Portman Rd, having a kick around, penalty competitions etc...I can honestly say that I've put a penalty away in the North Stand goal at Portman Road <cool> <laugh>

Rather boring story here, but for every away game the last 5 years, I have bought under 16s prices.

I am 27, 6'1 and by no means a child.

Many thanks to the new self scan ticket turnstyles on the entrance to games, you have saved me a small fortune.

Take Birmingham last season, £23 an adult ticket, I got four £2 under 16s tickets for me and my friends. Paid for the accomodation, thanks for coming.

Got caught at Coventry four years back, I argued with the stewards that the club had sent me the wrong tickets. Sorted!
