Sean O'Driscoll: Bristol City interest Premier League keepers Head coach Sean O'Driscoll says goalkeepers with Premier League experience have expressed an interest in a move to Bristol City. The club are without a keeper after Tom Heaton joined Burnley and Dean Gerken and Lewis Carey were released. O'Driscoll said: "People are contacting us. The attraction is that we've got a number one position available. "It's a case of whether they fit in with what we are trying to do at this time from a financial point of view." Seven players were released by City in the wake of their relegation to League One and the search for a goalkeeper is currently O'Driscoll's main recruitment focus. The 55-year-old told BBC Radio Bristol: "We have had some really interesting enquiries from some top quality goalkeepers, some with Premier League experience and a lot with Championship experience. "We are close on one or two things with a goalkeeper. but nothing that really looks like it will get over the line in the next couple of weeks."
From Twitterland... Alistair Durden ‏@alidurdenBBC 2h I'm told there's no truth in the rumours of Basso returning to Bristol City. Former Doncaster keeper Gary Woods is not joining them either.
So I reckon the two keepers arriving for trials are for the backup position and U-21 keeper spot bacause I can't see keepers who have played in the prem agreeing to trial for a L1 club.
Lee Camp would be a good one and wasnt he captain under SOD at Forest? Always a keeper I thought would be in the Prem and forcing his way in to the England club when he was younger but even though he has been at some big name clubs it never worked out for him
Mark Schwarzer would be a dream come true but he would quite easily walk into every championship team and quite a few prem teams.
Theres loads of keepers with prem experience out there with prem experience how about richard wright has not played first team footie in years at man city is now 3rd or even 4th choice
Mark Schwarzer??? No thanks he must be over 40 now, David James MK II his wages would be ridiculous Someone like Ben Amos from Man Utd would be perfect
