A question I've asked before - with his ability to strike a ball, I cannot understand why he hasn't pushed forward more to take a few shots. He's obviously capable and, if JdG doesn't return, we seem to have a more than decent dead ball specialist already in our ranks. Perhaps we might see him as more of an attacking midfielder next season, particularly if JdG isn't with us. Notice how his goals were split almost equally between right and left foot, which is a terrific asset for a player to have.
I think he was clearly asked to play a much more defensive game than he finds natural. When you're constantly aware you're not allowed/encouraged to play your "natural game", I think it massively affects goalscoring more than anything else. It's all about that split-second, and on numerous occasions I've seen him pass when the shot was the better option. With all the videos of him scoring stinkers, I refuse to believe it's a lack of willingness to shoot on his part and I'm convinced he was essentially told to "be Leon" last season. I love the idea of him at CAM, way more than JDG.
I'm predicting a big season from Ki. The boy has huge potential and would like to see him in a more advanced role.
Just as long as he doesn't play in slippers I'll be happy. First goal against Malaysia I can see it coming
