That would be a good opening fixture though. No pressure on us at all, all eyes on the opposition. A loss would leave us no worse off than expected.
The point Paul is that in any attempt to guess where we'll pick up points next season, nobody will be predicting points away against Chelsea in Mourinho's first game, making it a decent game for the team to start to gel, without expecting a result. Obviously we want to win, but the pressure is completely off
Its not away its at home so the op said, and why should we not expect a result, you think we are not good enough well sorry i do!
I would rather get a win soon in the new season so we don't get this morale sapping 'Norwich are still without a win this season' line from the media. A good start is essential, IMO.
As DH said, Paul, that wasnt the point. I think we could get a result, definitely. In front of a baying Carrow Road, anything can happen! My point was that the rest of the world wont believe we can get a point, which takes all pressure off and allows us to ease into our irst match. Then, if the worst comes to the worst, w will be on as many points as everyone expected
The OP on Chelsea's forum has given a couple that were leaked last season that turned out to be true!
no idea if they've been leaked or not but certainly it wouldn't be the first time. i heard we were facing colchester on the opening day a week before they were announced. i didn't think anything of it as it could have been bollocks but as it turned out... well, we know how it turned out! certainly the press get hold of them in advance so they can produce lists and the clubs will know at least a week in advance
If there was one team I would not want it would be Chelsea. The other big teams I can see faltering at the start, I don't think Chelsea will. I'd personally have picked Man U away if anything
I'd not be too upset about Chelsea at home. Media emphasis will be on Jose and who knows what momentum we could get from a strong first result... Makes me think of the first day of the inaugural Prem League season when Mark Robins came off the bench to knock over Arsenal. Looking at last seasons fixtures I was quietly happy about Fulham first off and noisily concerned about having Man City as the final game last season. We know how those games turned out. Only request I'd have is to play Liverpool in the first 6 games if Suarez is still on their payroll.
