Id say hooper has proved himself more than austin or even rhodes...

From a business pov, he can leave for nothing next year or a lowered price
Now, £5m or so... It's obvious which one is te better one and as said before it's not an insult to celtic to leave for a small club like city.. If celtic were an epl team he wouldn't come ere but obviously we know where celtic play week in week out

Bit far. I'd say the majority of the SPL is bottom of Championship/top of League 1, while Celtic are probably top of the Championship/bottom of the Prem.

I seriously do not blame the other clubs, they are the victims in it all. You can't seriously tell me there's anything approaching competition for Celtics 1st spot? The gulf between Celtic and every single other team in the SPL is criminal, and is a direct result of the SPL money men and the way the 2 Glasgow clubs have strangled the life out of Scotlands football. Even if say the 2 Dundee's merged, they wouldn't get close with twice as many fans etc.

Do the bookies even allow people to bet on them winning the SPL every year?

 

There's 3 clubs in Glasgow. Don't forget the mighty Jags

Dundee has bigger problems than football anyway.

Come on do the math before you start calling people idiots. Say Glasgow has 10m people, for example, split between two teams is 5m each. Dundee is half the size of Glasgow you say, so 5m for the combined two Dundee teams.

 

The fact of the matter is that now hull are in the epl, we are now a more attractive club to play for than celtic and a i believe a better team too (just).
Gary Hooper is not a proven player. Has done very well for you and scunthorpe, but moving from the championship to the spl tells nothing as it more or less the same standard.
Playing for celtic does not prove you as a player. Playing against pub teams for 80% of the season and then OCCASIONALLY doing ok in the champions league (i.e winning 3/4 games against established opponents) is merely the same as a championship team having a decent cup run in the FA/League cup which we see year in year out.

Oh and i wouldn't mind hooper at city but not for any more than £5.5 mil.

 

I have been impressed with Gary Hooper when he played in the CL. He gave Barcelona 2 hard games especially @ Celtic Park. Austin will be the cheapest re.wages as he only earns around £11k a week @ Burnley. So i guess we can have both Hooper and Austin for less than Rhodes earns at present as an example.

 

I never said that, you did, badly in fact...

I was simply pointing out that even if Dundee merged and 1 club had all the fans the 2 clubs currently have, that still wouldn't be enough for them to be able to compete with either Glasgow club based on the criminal way Scottish football is managed.

For what it's worth, yes I agree on that. Hooper is as proven as the rest of our team and much better than the strikers we currently have. You'll struggle to find a City fan who doesn't agree on that, strikers have been our weakness for about 3 years now.

 

Hardly insulting though, the truth is the truth.

 

Yes, yesterday he was saying that as Hooper was a keen angler the only reason he could see him coming to Hull was that he would enjoy fishing for trout in the river Severn.
